Traditionally, a face with a chiseled look, relatively large chin and solid, angular profile has been regarded as the embodiment of masculinity. If a receding chin means that your profile is not as masculine as you would like, or you would prefer your chin to be a slightly different size or shape, chin implants are an effective solution, producing features that are better proportioned and more balanced.
Chin implants can be combined with other facial procedures such as a face lift or nose reshaping surgery to achieve a better facial balance.
This is usually carried as a day case under general anaesthetic. The implant is positioned beneath the skin through an incision made from inside the mouth or below the chin and sutured with dissolvable sutures. You may have an Elastoplasts dressing to stabilise the chin implant. The chin implants surgery normally takes 45 minutes to 1hour to complete.
You may experience some local swelling but this normally settles within approximately a week, allowing you to return to work.
