Cosmetic treatments now socially acceptable say Canadian women

More than eight out of 10 Canadian women believe injectable cosmetic treatments such as Botox have become mainstream, according to a poll.
And a third of those questioned said they had become as commonplace as colouring their hair or teeth whitening, according to the survey, which questioned 800 women.
NICE may issue final guidance on use of injectables to treat migraines within a month

The body tasked with providing advice to the NHS and healthcare professionals about new drugs could issue final guidelines on the use of Botox to treat chronic migraines within one month.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has decided that the injectable can be used as a treatment, and registered stakeholders now have until May 25 to put forward any objections. If none are received, final guidance could be released in the next month, according to a report by the Press Association.

Cosmetic surgeons are increasingly turning to new 3D technology in order to help give patients as much information as possible about the procedure they’re about to undergo.
According to a report by Private Healthcare UK, more and more doctors are now choosing to use imaging technology which is capable of showing a cosmetic surgery patient how he or she is likely to look once the treatment has been carried out. A three-dimensional image of the patient’s face is created and then altered as required to show the likely results of the surgery.
Patients urged to use regulated laser hair removal clinics

Women looking for permanent hair removal should think twice about going to an unregulated beautician or clinic for the treatment.
According to Professor Harry Mosely, president of the British Medical Laser Association, patients are putting themselves at risk of serious burns, and even blindness and scarring, by choosing clinics or salons with little experience and which are not regulated.

Botox is appealing to a younger crowd looking to prevent lines and wrinkles, rather than erase them.
According to an article written by David Castillo and published on grinza.com, people as young as 25 years old are choosing to have Botox injections to halt the visible ageing process before it starts. The same article suggests that Botox needs to be administered every three months in order to be effective, but many experts believe that the effects can last from six to 12 months on average.

Hair loss, saggy skin and weight are top three concerns for women

A new survey has highlighted the top three concerns women have when it comes to their appearance.
Research commissioned by hair care firm Nourkrin discovered that just under a quarter of the 2,000 women polled said they were either most concerned about losing elasticity in their skin, resulting in sagging (12 per cent), or gaining too much weight (12 per cent).
