Facing up to the truth
A few weeks ago, TV star Leslie Ash presented a documentary about non surgical cosmetic procedures called Face to Face. Not only was it an entertaining show, but it actually highlighted some important issues. Basically, Leslie investigated the number of people who could say that they were qualified to administer treatments like dermal fillers with very little training.
To my relief, and that of many of my colleagues, the show sparked off a whole load of debates and has since made the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors (BACD) come out in support of regulating the process.
When you have any work like this done, the best thing you can do is make sure that you go to a reputable and highly qualified cosmetic doctor. However, people who don’t have the kind of insider knowledge that me and my friends do, could easily be fooled by training certificates that aren’t actually endorsed or regulated by any governing body – not something you really want to think about is it?
Tighter regulations would mean that people could be confident that the person giving them the treatment had enough knowledge and training to do it correctly – which is obviously something we would expect as standard, but unfortunately that isn’t always the case!
Here at The Harley Medical Group, we’re keen to make sure that everything that can be done to ensure people get the best treatment possible is done. That’s why we’re all for increasing regulations like this. Recently, we fought successfully to keep lasers regulated when the government threatened to de-regulate non-surgical-laser treatments. Making sure the right information is available to everyone is important to us – we want you guys to be in the loop just as much as we are after all.
