Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore has previously railed against plastic surgery, claiming that she would never go for any type of procedure for cosmetic enhancement – but it seems that the 47 year old star has changed her mind.

A few years ago, Moore was quoted saying that she detested cosmetic surgery and that she “would never, ever have plastic surgery“, according to Make Me Heal. She also struck out against wrinkle relaxing injections, such as Botox in the past, stating “I don’t know why women do Botox. It doesn’t make them look younger, it just makes them look like they had work done.”

However, it appears that the actress has experienced a change of heart when challenged with the question of plastic surgery. According to the cosmetic surgery news website, she recently said: “I never say never.”

Moore admitted that her problem with cosmetic surgery stems from with a worry that some celebrities can take procedures to excess and compares this threat with Chinese feet-binding, an extreme form of body modification that left many Chinese women disabled and disfigured when it used to be widely practiced.

In response, Dr. Anthony Youn wrote on his blog: “I think the Chinese foot binding analogy goes a bit far. Much of plastic surgery is meant to restore the body to a previous state or remove excess skin that can become both a cosmetic and functional problem, such as tummy tucks and thigh lifts. The aim of good plastic surgery is a natural rejuvenation, not abnormal deformation like in Chinese foot binding.”
