Did Jamie Lynn Spears have liposuction?
Reports are circulating that Jamie Lynn Spears, pop diva Britney Spears’ 17-year-old sister, had liposuction earlier this year before realising that she was pregnant.
A source told Star magazine: “She didn’t know she was pregnant when she filled out the health questionnaire prior to the procedure.
“Her mom approved the injections and went through tons of red tape to get the clinic to administer them to an underage patient.”
However, Jamie Lynn – who now has a five month year old baby – is thought to have called the claims “100% not true” and may take legal action against the gossip magazine.
The story brings into light the dangers of performing cosmetic surgery on people under the age of 18, a practice that many clinics in the UK and the US are quick to discourage.
In August this year, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) stated that five per cent of its surgeons had performed cosmetic surgery on up to 15 teenagers, many of whom wanted to change their features due to excessive bullying at school.
After a widespread attack in the media, BAAPS President Douglas McGeorge emphasised: “These cases are extremely rare, and most BAAPS surgeons have seen no rise whatsoever in this type of patient over the last five years.”
Whether or not Jamie Lynn spears had liposuction is still up in the air. However, her older sister Britney has also been the subject of many plastic surgery rumours.
In 2004, the singer was widely believed to have undergone breast enlargement surgery, and is also rumoured to have had a rhinoplasty (nose surgery) during the early years of her pop career.
