Americans young at heart: choosing cosmetic surgery

New research from the United States has found that Americans who are young at heart are choosing to stay that way in appearance through cosmetic surgery as well.

Clinics specializing in age management are finding an increase in older Americans willing to cash in on staying young with cosmetic surgery.

In a Las Vegas-based clinic, Dr. Jeffrey Life claims he’s helping many older Americans stay young.

Patient Ed Detwiler told the MedGuru website that he has been a patient of Dr. Life’s for around three years, and says he makes a point of following Dr. Life’s prescription to stay young and healthy.

Detwiler affirms that looking younger helps him live younger.

“If I can get out and be active and travel and see the world and be able to make a difference in other people’s lives, then yes, I would want to have as long an existence as possible,” he says.

Though the current economy is looking bleak, recent reports show that cosmetic surgery clients are still on the hunt for cheaper, non-surgical cosmetic options.

A new report released last week said that demand in the US for non-surgical procedures is likely to rise by 7% in 2012.

Additionally, while there used to be a stigma surrounding cosmetic surgery or a belief that it was restricted to a certain segment of society; this is increasingly no longer the case. The increased life expectancy of people in the 21st century could also be a contributing factor to the increased number of older people considering plastic surgery options.
