Popular fast cosmetic surgery procedures for men on the rise
Women aren’t alone in their desire for fast cosmetic surgery fixes. Now, a growing number of middle-aged men are undergoing Botox and other procedures for a quick treatment that has little downtime.
Earlier this year, a survey released by Men’s Health magazine found that 40 per cent of men would consider having cosmetic work done.
But men have been found to be quieter than women about their cosmetic surgeries.
“Men want to look better, but they don’t want anyone to know about it,” Dr. Mike Comins told the Daily Mail. According to the Knightsbridge-based surgeon, one in four of his clientele are men aged 30 to 60.
Surgeons say the appeal of quick, subtle procedures lies in the fact that many men want to avoid cosmetic surgery at all costs.
“Male plastic surgery can look feminine and unnatural,” said dermatologist Dr. Nichola Lowe. “You get a tightening of the face and obvious scarring because of the thickness of men’s skin.”
Comins said that men commonly seek solutions for looking angry and tired, as well as treatments for receding hairlines and liposuction for excessive fat in the chin, waist and chest.
“But they’re not in it for the pampering in the way women are,” added Comins. “They want short, sharp treatments with little downtime that can treat the problems they previously believed they have to live with quickly, with natural-looking results.
“Now we can deliver that without compromising on their masculine looks.”
The Daily Mail states that breast reduction, eye bag removal, brow lift, and face and neck lifts are the most popular treatments for men.
