Should young teenagers be allowed to save up for a boob job?

There’ve been loads of news reports circulating the web recently about an American website that’s selling a “boob job piggy bank”. Seeing as the online store seems to be targeting young teenagers, I think it’s safe to assume that this piggy bank is for girls that shouldn’t even be considering surgery for at least another five or six years! And anyone who read my post from a few months ago on performing cosmetic surgery on teenagers will be left in no doubt about how I feel about this issue…

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love shopping as much as the next girl. New and exciting girly products have always caught my eye – especially when they’re pink and sparkly, like this piggy bank. I really feel that girls as young as thirteen shouldn’t be thinking about changing their bodies. They’re still in the process of developing and changing into adulthood after all.

Do you remember when you were thirteen? I do – all too well. I was often teased at school because my breasts hadn’t yet developed when a lot of my friends’ were already sporting an impressive clevage. But in a few years, I was more than satisfied with my busty figure! When you’re young, there’s just no telling what your body’s going to throw at you.

Piggy banks are great things though – a girl I know makes it a point to put every two pound coin she got into one and about six months later she had hundreds of pounds saved up! So I’m all for saving money and anything we can do to ensure that kids start doing this at a young age is great – but in order to really feel the benefits of a confidence-boosting cosmetic surgery procedure like a breast augmentation, waiting until they’re at least 18 should definitely be encouraged.
