Why is mum the word when it comes to male surgery

I’ve been seeing more and more news lately about the amount of men having cosmetic procedures like liposuction and Botox. It’s nice that people have started to realise that it’s not just woman who like to look their best!

It looks like men have just about caught up with us girls when it comes to ensuring that that they make the best of what they’ve got, but there’s one area that they are definitely lagging behind – and that’s owning up to it!

Way back in October, one of my good male friends (don’t worry – I’ll keep your name a secret for now!) chose to have wrinkle relaxing injections after pumping me for advice. It was advice that I was more than happy to give, but I didn’t think he was expecting me to keep the whole thing secret too. I may have let slip to a few of our mutual friends and when he first found out he was a little peeved to say the least.

He quickly got over it though, mainly when a couple of male friends of his asked him what it had been like and if it hurt – following a few pints of course! I guess it’s up to each and every person whether they want to talk about any cosmetic surgery they’ve had, but I have to say his reaction surprised me. I suppose it’s because most of my female friends are so open about these things – we’re always sharing beauty tips of all sorts.

You might remember me mentioning that new cosmetic surgery show for men, Extreme Male Beauty, last month – I just hope that when it comes out it encourages men to be just that little bit more open about what makes them happy and keeps them looking their best.
