Actress Rebecca Gibney has likened getting Botox treatments to having a facial in a recent interview.
The Australian actress, best known for her appearance in the Seven Network TV drama Packed to the Rafters, compared the wrinkle-relaxing treatment with having a facial when speaking with Australian Women’s Weekly magazine. (more…)

It has been announced that wrinkle-reducing injections have avoided possible taxation in the recent US healthcare overhaul.
The proposed reform could have seen Botox and other cosmetic surgery procedures subject to a 5 per cent tax as part of an overhaul of the healthcare system by American president Barack Obama. However, Reuters reports that plastic surgeons and Botox maker Allergan Inc successfully fought the tax, which would have applied to procedures such as breast enlargements, facelifts and a range of other cosmetic surgeries. The clinics and offices are buzzing with festive cheer at the moment and I’m wondering if we’re going to be getting a white Christmas this year. I hope so! There’s nothing like feelings as though you’ve stepped out of a Christmas card.
While this time of year is one for celebrating, I know it’s one where people can sometimes find themselves feeling self conscious about the way they look. While the summer holds its own body challenges, from sun burned and damaged skin to bikini-on-the-beach fears, so does the festive period. (more…)

As Oprah Winfrey is set to launch her own television network, leading surgeons are speculating that the television icon may have held back the years with cosmetic surgery.
At 55 years old, and following several major weight gains and losses, Oprah still looks as good as ever, causing Make Me Heal to suggest that she may have used some of the plastic surgery procedures debuted on her prime time show. (more…)

An American doctor has claimed that many US politicians have undergone cosmetic surgery.
While politicians are less likely to talk about their private lives or cosmetic surgery choices than stars of stage or screen, Dr Ayman Hakki of the Luxxery Cosmetic Medical Boutique in Waldorf, Maryland has claimed that many have had treatment. (more…)

A new magazine hoped to inform consumers about cosmetic surgery is to launch in the US in January 2010.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery is launching New You, an official consumer magazine to represent the views of the 2,500 strong organisation. The editor in chief, J. P. Faber explained that the magazine would focus on the wants and needs of the average individual rather than celebrity driven. (more…)

Recently we did a little research at the Harley Medical Group and we found out that in the UK lots of people like to keep quiet about the fact that they’ve had cosmetic surgery. I was actually quite surprised by how many people like to keep mum about it, but then I suppose I obviously work somewhere where we’re very open when it comes to talking about these things! (more…)
