Winner of cosmetic surgery pageant crowned

The controversial beauty pageant that judges contestants on their cosmetic surgery and non surgical procedures, as well as their natural beauty, has crowned Alexandra Kocsis as the 2010 winner.

Now in its second year, the beauty pageant has drawn comment from around the world with some supporting the event vehemently and others voicing their disapproval. Contestants are only allowed to enter the competition if they have received cosmetic surgery and required to produce medical records to prove it. (more…)

Single ladies in their 60s enjoying life more than ever

A growing number of women are finding that life certainly doesn’t end at 60 and are more than happy to shout about their experiences.

According to a feature in the Daily Mail, single ladies in their sixties are finding it easier to have fun than ever before – thanks to improved attitudes and opportunities for more mature women.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, chartered psychologist Dr Gary Wood, who specialises in attitudes and -stereotypes, says the last few decades has seen major changes in our concept of age. (more…)

Sheryl Crow said to use non surgical treatments to maintain youthful looks

After wowing on the red carpet at the recent Country Music Awards, commentators have begun to speculate whether singer Sheryl Crow has enhanced her looks by turning to non surgical treatments.

MakeMeHeal.com has reported that the Grammy award-winning musician looked remarkably youthful and fresh-faced at the event, despite having “been a part of the rough and tumble music industry for years.” (more…)

Billy Bob Thornton rumoured to have used Botox

Actor Billy Bob Thornton, known for his silver, tufted hair and un-manicured look, is rumoured to have turned to non surgical treatments in a bid to look a little younger.

The Daily Mail speculates that the actor, best known for his role in the blockbuster Bad Santa, may have combined line- and wrinkle-erasing dermal fillers such as Botox, along with dying his trademark grey locks brown, in an attempt to win more coveted Hollywood roles. (more…)

More American women are turning to mummy makeovers

A growing number of American women aged 20 to 39 are turning to cosmetic surgery in order to regain their svelte, pre-pregnancy figures, a surgical expert has said.

MedicalNewsToday.com reports that Dr. Hugh McLean, a leading cosmetic surgeon, has explained that ‘mummy makeovers’ combining tummy tucks, liposuction, breast uplifts and stretch marks removal have gained in popularity as more new mothers suffer a crisis of confidence following childbirth, particularly as celebrity mothers seem to snap back into shape just weeks after delivery. Surgeons have highlighted the dangers of using Do It Yourself Botox kits and are encouraging people to turn away from online injectable kits.

While widely available on the internet, many DIY Botox or filler kits can pose significant dangers to the user – even if they have experience with injectables. The mail order products have been appearing for sale since 2008 and warnings have surrounded them ever since. (more…)

Yummy mummies under pressure from celebrities?

Having a baby is one of the most precious and important things that will ever happen to you, and for women everywhere it’s a very personal and private experience. However, it seems as though this special time is being more and more influenced – like so many things these days – by celebrities.

Earlier this week I was reading the Metro online and I found an article saying that new mothers were getting caught up in the pressure to lose weight after having a baby – and that a lot of this was to do with celebrities and their seemingly impossible ability to snap back into their pre-baby shape very soon after giving birth. Younger women more interested in cosmetic surgery and treatments

A new survey commissioned by beauty brand Olay has revealed that younger women are more interested in cosmetic surgery and non surgical treatments.

The Big British Beauty Poll asked 20,000 thousand women ranging from 18-65 about their beauty habits and found that the number of women who said yes to cosmetic surgery was highest in the 18-35 age groups. According to the Daily mail, the percentage of women who said yes tailed off gradually after the age of 35. (more…)

Rather than plumping for cosmetic treatments that make them look younger, these stars are typically looking for ways to fix a problem or defect that is affecting their confidence. According to Peace FM Online, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Richard Fleming also explained his belief that some starlets choose surgery as a way to improve their career prospects.
