‘Real Housewives’ star reveals truth about cosmetic surgery rumours

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Jill Zarin, one of the stars of hit American television show Real Housewives of NYC, has spoken out against recent rumours that she has undergone cosmetic surgery in a bid to look younger.

The 47-year-old spoke to OK! Magazine after speculation began over her dramatically younger, wrinkle-free appearance. Despite looking as though she may have had facelift and nose reshaping surgery, Zarin put rumours to bed by speaking out honestly and openly about her new look.

In an interview published in latest issue of the magazine, Zarin said: “I am very surprised by the controversy that my new look created!

“Truthfully I had absolutely no plastic surgery to my face, no cutting, no nose job. I have done Botox and filler injections and have a new makeup artist, Jim Crawford. He gave me a new look and I feel beautiful and confident”, she added.

She also revealed that the decision to revamp her look was driven by her own desire to be more confident, and not by pressure from fans, directors and co-stars. The star also encouraged women to do whatever they needed to do to feel better about the ageing process.

“If there is something you want to do to feel better about yourself, whether it be plastic surgery, injections, makeup, a new dress, I encourage you to do whatever it is that will make you happy”, she said.

The Only Way is Essex star shows off new boobs

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Jessica Wright, one of the stars of hit ITV2 show The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), has posed for New! magazine in nothing but a skimpy bikini, to show off her new boobs.

Until now, the 25-year-old brunette has kept the results of her cosmetic surgery under wraps but these photographs show that she couldn’t wait to show off her newly enlarged bust.

Wright, who is an aspiring pop star and sister of co-star Mark Wright, has gone from a 32C to an impressive 32DD and joins four other TOWIE women who have had breast implants. Amy Childs, Lauren Pope, Chloe Sims and Maria Fowler have all had breast enlargement surgery, while Lauren Goodger underwent the knife for nose reshaping surgery.

In an accompanying interview with the women’s magazine, Wright said: “I can’t stop looking at my new boobs!”

“I’m about 9st and 5ft 6½in. I probably weight more now, as my boobs weigh a pound each. My boobs were fine before but I wanted them bigger”, she added.

Has Michelle Obama had Botox, ask experts

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Recent photographs of America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama, have sparked rumours that she may have had Botox injections to keep her face wrinkle-free.

Online magazine Hollywoodlife.com asked six plastic surgeons and dermatologists to comment on whether they thought she had dabbled in the treatment, with half believing she may well have done.

Dr Steven Fallek, a plastic surgeon based in New York, is one of those who think Obama may have had Botox. Talking to Hollywoodlife.com he ruled out the possibility of surgery as the First Lady doesn’t have “the overly raised or arched eyebrows”, which he said, “are the usual giveaway”.

Dr Adam Schaffner of Weill Cornell Medical Group agrees: “Mrs Obama may have had Botox injected in the area around her eyes, between her eyebrows, as well as in her forehead, to soften the appearance of some of the wrinkles in those areas”, he said.

However, Wendy Lewis, plastic surgery consultant, is sceptical about the rumours.

“Michelle is a handsome woman who takes great care of herself and it shows. We know she works out, her skin is luminous and she looks stunning. As for cosmetic intervention, I doubt she is doing much, if anything”, she said.

Tyra Banks will “definitely” nip and tuck

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Tyra Banks, supermodel and creator of hit television show America’s Next Top Model, has revealed that she will definitely have cosmetic surgery when the time is right.

Speaking to Piers Morgan on his Tonight show, Banks spoke frankly about cosmetic surgery and her views on undergoing procedures in the future. Morgan asked Banks if she would be willing to have a little “nip and tuck”, to which she replied in the affirmative.

“Yeah, most definitely”, she said, without hesitation.

She also vehemently denied rumours that she has had breast implants, a story that has followed the model for a number of years.

“It was a very big rumor that I had breast implants and I don’t blame you. On the cover of these magazines, I was very young, I was 23, 24, 25, and they were up there, like, ‘Bam!’ they pretty much looked fake”, she said.

“I’ll admit that they did look fake, but they weren’t. And my mom was like, ‘they have no idea that you’re just [busty]’ but cut to years later, they’re still thinking that because I’m wearing these gorgeous push up bras”, Banks added.

Shane Warne denies Botox and facelift

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Australian cricket legend Shane Warne has denied rumours that he has had Botox injections or a facelift, insisting that his youthful looks are down to a healthy diet, exercise and moisturisers.

Despite appearing in recent photographs looking much younger and with almost luminescent skin, the 41-year-old denies cosmetic surgery rumours and tells fans that he has lost weight and toned up.

Warne tried to clear up the matter on social networking site Twitter: “Questions re facelift/Botox etc are absolute rubbish”, he wrote.

“I am 86kg. Lost 7kg and close to being the fittest I have ever been. Fitness and being healthy is now a daily habit I feel great and never been happier in my life. I am also eating very healthily and am flattered that people think I look younger. I have worked hard over the last five months on fitness”, he added.

The cricketer, who is currently playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, did however reveal that he uses expensive moisturisers to keep his skin looking youthful.

Louise Redknapp will ‘definitely’ have cosmetic surgery

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Louise Redknapp, singer and wife of ex-England footballer Jamie Redknapp, has told a women’s magazine that she will definitely have Botox and cosmetic surgery in the future.

The 36-year-old mother of two made the revelation to the online edition of Fabulous magazine yesterday. When asked if she would consider having Botox or cosmetic surgery, the blonde beauty answered honestly and without reservation, proving just how normal it is for people to have treatments these days.

In response to the question, Redknapp said: “Absolutely – whatever I need. I’ll definitely have Botox at some stage, but it’s all about timing.”

During the same interview she said that as long as she looked OK in a t-shirt and jeans then she’d be happy enough and admitted to hating exercise.

“I hate working out. But I do a lot of boxing with Jamie and that’s my saving grace”, she said.

Arlene Phillips plans to have a facelift

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Former professional dancer and host of television show So You Think You Can Dance, Arlene Phillips, has admitted to wanting a face lift and says she has considered other plastic surgery procedures too.

Talking to the Daily Mirror about potential face lift surgery, of which she has never made a secret of wanting, Phillips said: “Having something like a facelift would mean taking six weeks off and I haven’t got that sort of time this year.”

The 67-year-old has admitted to trying Botox and dermal fillers in the past but said they were too painful for her, and says she often looks in the mirror and considers having other treatments.

“I have thought about having my boobs done but a good bra has been working so far and they are quite big enough. I look at myself all the time and think. ‘I could do this and that.’ But I try and make the best of what I’ve got”, she told the newspaper.

Common cosmetic surgery myths busted!

Friday, April 15th, 2011

The rumour mill is fuelled by willing and unwilling celebrities and celebrities in turn often get much needed publicity thanks to the rumours the mill churns out. And one of the favourite subjects to be fed in is whether or not so and so has had cosmetic surgery, Botox or another non-surgical treatment, and with these questions come common myths about the industry.

Face lifts are for the rich and famous – while this used to be the case, thanks to a variety of methods, including the “quick” facelift which makes use of keyhole surgery techniques, more and more ordinary people are opting for this as a way to rejuvenate their appearance.

Botox is only used to plump up fine lines and wrinkles – while this is the primary use of the toxin and the one that everyone knows it for, Botox can also be used to tackle deep frown and smile lines, as well as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and migraines too.

Fat removal surgery is a weight loss tool – Liposuction and other fat removal techniques were not designed to be a quick way for the obese to lose weight. Any reputable and ethical clinic will advise overweight people to change their diet and embark on an exercise regime before they’ll consider performing this type of surgery.

Nose jobs are performed purely for cosmetic reasons – While this is the case for many patients, nose reshaping surgery is also regularly performed on those who have breathing difficulties as a result of a misshapen nose or other defect.

Dermal fillers are just used to plump up lips – Yes, they are used for this purpose but can also be used to make cheeks more prominent and change the shape of the face. It is popular with those who have lost fullness in the face due to the natural ageing process or because of medical treatment for serious illnesses.

There are many other rumours that any ethical and reputable clinic will be able to confirm or deny for those people who are interested in cosmetic surgery procedures.

Soldiers get breast reduction to fit in body armour

Friday, April 15th, 2011

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed that it has so far paid more than £10,000 for recruits to have breast reduction surgery so that they can fit comfortably into the standard issue body armour.

The organisation has also paid out more than £7,000 for ear reshaping surgery that allows helmets to fit comfortably.

The figures were released as a result of a Freedom of Information request made by the Mirror, which also revealed that the total amount paid out for cosmetic surgery in the last three years was £17,257. This had increased from £4,292 in 2008/09, to £12,965 in 2010/11.

A spokesperson for the MoD said: “Occasionally plastic surgery may be carried out for occupational and operational reasons”.

Each case is judged by the Exceptional Case Assessment panel before any funding is given to carry out surgical procedures but this is likely to be of little comfort to those recruits who feel like they’re fighting without the proper kit.

It is also likely to be very unpopular with the Armed Forces who have seen their funding cut dramatically to recoup a £38 billion deficit.

NHS refuses woman breast reduction surgery

Friday, April 15th, 2011

A woman weighing 13 stone has once again been turned away by the NHS for breast reduction surgery she needs because she is overweight.

Julia Darnell, who is 39 and lives in Wellingborough, has already reduced her overall body weight by five stone to meet the target weight set for her by the NHS, only to be told that the target has been lowered.

A consultant at Kettering General Hospital, S M Musa, is backing Darnell’s appeal, saying the surgery is needed in order to alleviate a number of related health problems, which include arthritis in her neck and a rare skin disease that causes chronic abscesses underneath her breasts.

Darnell told the Evening Telegraph that she is annoyed at the changing criteria and wants to get the surgery done for medical not cosmetic reasons.

“My skin condition needs continual treatment because I get sores every two or three weeks. I was even admitted to hospital last year because of this”, she said.

“It has taken me a year to lose five stones and it has been difficult and according to their calculations I might have to lose another two or three stones.

What annoys me with the PCT is that it keeps changing its criteria. Every time I think that I’m getting somewhere they just knock me back and I just feel so deflated”, Darnell added.

A spokesperson for the NHS Northamptonshire said they were unable to comment on individual cases due to patient confidentiality.
