Women turn to cosmetic surgery to avoid becoming ‘invisible’

sb10063521ah-001More women in their mid to late forties are turning to cosmetic surgery and a poll of more than 2,000 women over 40 says the so-called ‘invisible age’ could be the reason why.

The survey, commissioned by Clarivu Total Vision Correction, found that while life begins at 40, 46 is the age at which women become invisible to men. This is the age when women believe men cease to engage in chivalrous behaviour and stop doing gentlemanly things such as holding doors open and giving up their seat on the bus.

Cosmetic surgery postponed for Britain’s fattest teen

115492975Britain’s so-called ‘fattest teen’, Malissa, has been refused cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin caused by her massive weight loss.

The 19-year-old was referred for surgery by Dr Christian Jessen after appearing on Channel 4 documentary Embarrassing Fat Bodies, but surgeons postponed her treatment when Malissa failed to give up smoking.

Cosmetic surgery groups stress the importance of making informed choices

ks142401The Independent Healthcare Advisory Services (IHAS) and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) have both said people need to “think carefully” before undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures.

The warning follows an increase in the number of competitions being held with cosmetic surgery procedures such as Botox injections and breast enlargements offered as prizes. The BBC has reported instances of treatments being offered in magazine competitions and lottery draws.

Canadian plastic surgeon sees rise in line and wrinkles treatments for men

stk212525rkeA plastic surgeon based in Calgary, Canada, has noticed a rise in the number of men coming into his clinic for Botox and other non-surgical treatments for lines and wrinkles.

Dr Jason McWhirter, who is a specialist in skin care and dermatology, says that both men and women are requesting information about such procedures but the increase in men is particularly noticeable.

TOWIE’s Chloe Simms reveals cosmetic surgery wish-list

The 29-year-old has already had breast enlargement surgery and revealed in the latest series of the reality television show that she is considering a return to the cosmetic surgery clinic to get bigger breast implants.

New cosmetic surgery app to hit UK

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr Jonathan Kaplan has invented BuildMyBod, an app that allows consumers to find cosmetic surgery clinics, plastic surgeons, and information and prices on a range of cosmetic surgery procedures. It also allows consumers to book appointments using their mobile phone.

Kym Marsh had liposuction to boost confidence

The actress, who has two children, David, 16, and Emily, 13, admitted that the timing might have seemed odd to some people, but she said that a confidence boost was exactly what she needed during such a traumatic time.

Perry admits to wanting breasts from the age of 11 but to being taunted at school when her wish was granted. In sixth grade her large breasts earned her the nickname ‘over shoulder boulder holder’ and she found that taping them down made them, and her, less noticeable. (more…)

Cosmetic surgery only option to rid body of cellulite

Dr Claudia Aguirre, scientific communications manager for the International Dermal Institute, admits that cellulite is a cosmetic issue and not a health concern but understands that it can be detrimental to mental wellbeing.

Double nose job for TOWIE stars

stk212539rkeStars of The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), Kirk Norcross and Lauren Pope, have revealed that they both underwent nose reshaping surgery at the same time.

The pair, who feature in the current series of the ITV2 reality television show, were spotted leaving a London clinic with bandaged faces. Pope later tweeted the announcement to fans, saying: “Morning all! So another day indoors for me and Kirk. On the agenda today is baking cakes. Will tweet some pics when they’re done!
