Scottish women will spend an average of £100,000 each on anti-ageing products to stay looking young into old age.

This is the conclusion of new research which found that those asked spent on average between £30 and £50 a month on anti-ageing creams and other cosmetic treatments to keep their skin looking young. Perhaps more surprisingly, the survey also revealed that women would spend £7,000 on counselling to help them come to terms with the prospect of growing old.

‘Elderly plastic surgery’ and ‘mummy makeover’ have been identified as trending topics by Time Newsfeed.

The online site, which focuses on gathering up-to-date news and information from across the web, found that the two cosmetic surgery terms were being searched for extensively by users across the world.

Of ‘elderly plastic surgery’, Time said: “A recent New York Times article profiled the ‘many septuagenarians, octogenarians and even nonagenarians who are burnishing their golden years with help from the plastic surgeon’.”

A cosmetic surgeon in America has reported an increase in enquiries from people looking for combined eyelid and facelift surgery.

Dr Adam Stein, a plastic surgeon from Raleigh, USA, said: “More patients are interested in combining eyelid surgery with a facelift at my practice.

The secret to looking good into your 50s is a combination of supplements and cosmetic treatments.

This is according to experts who appeared on the latest episode of the Dr Oz Show, which airs on American television. Experts on the show clarified that caring for and maintenance of older skin is very different to that of younger skin. Younger skin benefits from great skin care products, while older skin benefits from a simple skin care regime with minimal products. Using too many different products can cause irritation, redness and even acne on those aged 50 or more.

An online news site has collected stories from women who all believe that the results of plastic surgery far outweigh the costs.

Daily Finance today published testimonials from four women who have undergone cosmetic surgery procedures – all of the stories talked of the surgery giving them a new lease of life. Kim Gregson, 47, had liposuction and a tummy tuck, Samantha Alvarado, 26, had breast augmentation and a tummy tuck, Christina Hadzi, 54, has regular Botox injections, and Amy Klein, 41, had a stem-cell facelift.

Bristol Palin, the daughter of American politician Sarah Palin, is yet to comment on claims she has undergone cosmetic surgery.

In an interview for the September issue of Playboy magazine, Mercede Johnston, sister of Levi Johnston, who is known for being Miss Palin’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, said: “She’s had numerous surgeries on her face, her chin twice or three times. Before Tripp [Palin’s son] was born she had liposuction here and liposuction elsewhere – where, I’m not supposed to say because Levi made me promise. And she had something else done after Tripp was born.”

Maria Fowler, one of the cast of ITV2’s reality television show The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) has been spotted attending a cosmetic surgery clinic.

Fowler has confirmed that she is considering having liposuction to remove a pocket of stubborn fat on her bottom, despite doubts from fans that she has an ounce of fat anywhere on her body. The 24-year-old stepped out with new boyfriend Craig Church having had a consultation ahead of possible liposuction treatment.

Older people are opting for cosmetic surgery much more frequently than ever before.

This is the opinion of one plastic surgeon, Mr Daniel Man, from Boca Raton, America, who says he has seen an increase in the number of enquiries for surgery from those aged 65 and over.

Of his older patients, Mr Man said: “These people are healthy and want to be an active part of society.”

A mother has decided to undergo breast augmentation after two of her daughters told her they were booking in for the procedure.

Geraldine John, 47, told the Metro that she had always wanted larger breasts but is only now committing to it because she was envious of her daughters.

“I was devastated when the girls booked into the clinic but only because I’ve wanted it myself for 30 years,” she said.

Jenni Farley, also known as J-Woww, star of American reality television show Jersey Shore, has revealed her brand new, slimmed down look.

The 24-year-old has lost weight, toned up and looks as though she may have had further cosmetic surgery to enhance her looks. The star has already undergone breast enlargement surgery and rumours are now circulating that she has had work done to her face.
