“I won’t say what they are, but we have some of the same body issues, so it’s great to talk things through with her.”

More Lebanese men opting for cosmetic procedures
The number of men in Lebanon undergoing plastic surgery and non-surgical treatments has increased in recent years.
Plastic surgeon Roger el-Khoury, who founded Beirut Beauty Clinic in Zalka, has revealed that since 2006, his proportion of male patients has jumped from 5 per cent to 20 per cent.
He said: “Plastic surgery is now linked to wellness. Men also want to feel good, so they ask about cosmetic surgery.”
The most common treatments for men include facelifts, hair transplants and Botox; though they also opt for liposuction, body sculpting and nose jobs.
Bahaa Arbid of St George Hospital, another cosmetic practitioner in Beirut, added: “Lots of men are encouraged by their girlfriends, who make them feel more comfortable about having surgery.”

‘I would definitely consider plastic surgery,’ says Mel C
Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, popularly known as Mel C, has admitted that she would think about undergoing cosmetic surgery at some point in the future.
Mel has been associated with health issues since her former identity of ‘Sporty Spice’ in 1990s pop group The Spice Girls, in which she was most often seen wearing a tracksuit or similar sporty clothing.
Now 37, she has a two-year-old daughter and long-term boyfriend and enjoys keeping fit by maintaining an active life.
“I find it easier now to stay in shape,” she said, quoted in More! magazine. “It’s definitely more difficult to find time for the gym, but I’m so much more active. There’s always something to do – there’s no more watching the TV with a snack! I’m always moving around and there’s no time to eat.
Speaking of the future, she said: “I would definitely consider plastic surgery. Although [...] I think I’d always go for the least invasive treatments.”

MP backs Treatments You Can Trust for choosing cosmetic surgery
An MP has spoken of his support for a service which aims to increase the safety of patients planning to undergo surgical procedures.
Colchester’s Bob Russell has encouraged his constituents, and people in general, to pay attention to the Treatments You Can Trust campaign, which publishes a register of practices which use properly qualified staff.
The campaign is supported by the Department of Health and helps potential patients to avoid practitioners which do not meet its safety standards.
“Beauty injections such as Botox aren’t just cosmetic products, they are medical procedures that require training and expertise,” said Russell.
“It is not worth endangering your health for the price of a makeover. I would encourage clinics and providers of cosmetic injections in Colchester to sign up to this register in order to ensure that patient safety is always the priority.”

Ryan Giggs’s sister-in-law (and alleged ex-mistress) opts for boob job
The sister-in-law of footballer Ryan Giggs has reportedly had her breasts surgically enhanced using some of the money she received in exchange for her story of her and Ryan’s long-term affair.
Natasha Giggs, wife of Ryan Giggs’s brother Rhodri, underwent surgery at the same clinic as model Imogen Thomas – another alleged mistress of Ryan Giggs.
The Daily Star reports that Natasha’s breasts have been enhanced from 30A to 30F, costing £4,250.
A friend told the newspaper: “Natasha has never felt confident about her boobs. She’s a slim size eight and felt they were one part of her body she really disliked.
“Now she can’t wait to show them off in a bikini. She’s on the prowl for a man and has someone in her sights.’’
Natasha and Rhodri Giggs are in the process of a divorce following the revelations concerning his brother, who was also the subject of a gagging order, or super-injunction, which attempted to stop publication of his identity on the subject of a relationship with Imogen.

Jane Fonda: Cosmetic surgery integral to youthful appearance

Jane Fonda: Cosmetic surgery integral to youthful appearance
Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda, still hailed by many as a beauty at the age of 73, has revealed that cosmetic surgery is among her tips for ageing gracefully.
At the age of 72 she underwent procedures to minimise the effects of ageing along her jawline and under her eyes, to make her face appear less ‘droopy’
“I felt pretty terrific, but I always looked tired,” she said. “I got tired of not looking like how I felt.”
Fonda’s other tips for mature beauty success include a positive attitude about advancing years; reflecting on your background and past; letting go of perfectionism; being independent; being open to intimacy at all stages of life; avoiding unhealthy practices; getting plenty of sleep – and remaining engaged in life.
“Learn who you really are to become a whole person,” she said. “It takes a lot of courage, because all of the culture is telling us we’re supposed to be this way or that way.
“Try to be authentic; try to discover it. And stay interested. That’s much more important than being interesting.”

Cosmetic surgery popularity rises in UAE

Cosmetic surgery popularity rises in UAE
The United Arab Emirates has seen a huge increase in the popularity of plastic surgery procedures sought by its citizens – a change that many people attribute to a rise in obesity levels.
Procedures such as liposuction and male breast reduction are particularly in demand as people aim to fight the flab.
Experts blame factors such as diets containing high levels of saturated fat and carbohydrates; and, perhaps less expectedly, sleeping less than seven hours a night.
“Liposuction tops the list of the popular cosmetic procedures compared to female breast operations and nose operations, which are among the most sought after add hyphen surgeries,” said Dr B Venkata Ratnam, a plastic surgeon at New Medical Centre Specialty Hospital in Abu Dhabi, quoted in The Gulf Today.
Dr Ratnum specialises in gynaecomastia, the enlargement of male breasts, which he said affects 10 per cent of the male population of Abu Dhabi.
“[As a result of gynaecomastia], their psychological development is marred,” he said. “No exercise or medicine can cure enlarged breasts. They need to be removed by a surgical operation.”

Injectables delay the need for surgery

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011
The American Society For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) has reported that non-surgical cosmetic treatments have shown a huge increase in popularity, which may be linked to their ability to delay the need for surgical procedures.
The number of non-surgical procedures carried out increased by 228 per cent between 1997 and 2010. Injectable procedures have been particularly in demand, with the number of people receiving them increasing by 500 per cent since the late 1990s.
Americans spent almost £10.7bn on cosmetic procedures in 2010, according to ASAPS, of which 62 per cent was on surgery, while 18 per cent, 16 per cent and 4 per cent were spent respectively on injectables, skin rejuvenation and other treatments.
Many patients want to keep their youthful appearance, but wish to spend less money and enjoy a faster recovery.
“While Botox and other non-surgical treatments can be effective, their benefits are temporary,” said an unnamed Texas plastic surgeon, quoted by Consultingroom.com.
“However, they do offer an excellent way to postpone plastic surgery for patients who are not yet ready for that option.”

Breast augmentation boosted in LA

Breast augmentation boosted in LA
Demand for breast enlargement in the US city of Los Angeles has risen over the summer, according to a plastic surgeon from the area.
Dr Grant Stevens said that it was probably as a result of warm weather, which leads to thoughts of summer activities and thus of looking as good as possible in swimwear.
“Many women choose to come to LA from out of town because it allows them to travel and explore Los Angeles during the summer,” said Stevens.
“It’s exciting for them because they are getting the figure they’ve always wanted and getting to vacation in such an interesting and lively city as Los Angeles.
“After surgery, one of the most satisfying aspects of surgery for them is being out there on the beach, feeling confident in their swimsuits.”
Dr Stevens noted that many patients combine their breast augmentation surgery with breast lift procedures, especially mothers who have lost some shape and volume as a result of pregnancy or breast feeding.
