Ugly Betty’s Vanessa Williams to talk Botox as part of women’s charity campaign

Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams has teamed up not-for-profit company Dress for Success and Botox-maker Allergan in order to offer career advice to disadvantaged women in the workplace.

The charity campaign, Express Success, aims to empower women in the current job market and Williams attended the launch of the drive in New York City this week. The actress and singer took part in several activities on the day, including a race to dress mannequins in clothes donated to the cause. (more…)

Botox makers create new eyelash boosting treatment

Allergan, the company behind Botox, has won approval to sell a new product that lengthens eyelashes.

The non-surgical cosmetic treatment, dubbed Latisse™, has been created to treat a condition called hypotrichosis – when a person has fewer than the normal amount of eyelashes – but is also likely to appeal to people who desire thicker, more lustrous lashes. (more…)

Shares of Botox maker on the rise

Shares in Allergan, the producer of Botox facial fillers, are on the rise this week. The news comes after a panel of US government advisers favorably reviewed one of the company’s new cosmetic products.

Recently, Allergan had asked the Food and Drug Administration to approve its new product, Lumigan, which enhances eyelashes. Last week the Administration voted that the drug’s benefits outweigh its risks. (more…)

One biopharmaceutical company that specialises in aesthetic medicine, Revance Therapeutics, has just secured $8 million worth of financing in order to help with the clinical development of ST0001, a topical form botulinum toxin type A that could be a rival to the wrinkle-relaxing injection.
