Alternative uses revealed for popular line and wrinkle treatment

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is looking to pass approval for Botox to be used to treat jaw pain.

Botox, which is already used extensively to minimise lines and wrinkles, and to a slightly lesser extent to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), could soon be used to treat jaw muscle disorders.

Kerry Katona says she hasn’t had DIY dermal fillers

Television personality Kerry Katona has told a British magazine that she hasn’t gone anywhere near cut-price Botox kits.

The former singer and star of multiple reality television shows including Celebrity Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! told OK! Magazine that she hasn’t considered having non-surgical cosmetic procedures carried out in her own home.

Michelle Heaton can’t wait to have her baby, and then line and wrinkle treatments

Former Liberty X star Michelle Heaton has admitted that she can’t wait to have her baby and get back into shape – revealing that she will be straight back to Botox as soon as possible.

In an interview published in Closer magazine this week, the 31-year-old said she will tackle her frown line as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“I’ve been having Botox since I was 28,” said the singer.

Has Madonna ditched line and wrinkle treatments?

Madonna has announced that despite looking half her age she has ditched her reliance on Botox and other cosmetic treatments.

The 53-year-old pop superstar was photographed looking fresh-faced while judging a dance contest in New York. She chose to wear black leather hotpants, lace-up over the knee boots and fishnet tights – adding to her “young” image.

The singer, whose new single is yet to be released but which has been leaked online, reportedly told a friend that she was worried about looking like a “freak” if she continued to have Botox injections.

Kylie Minogue tweets annoyance at cosmetic surgery rumours

Australian singer and actress Kylie Minogue has responded to suggestions that she has gone back to using Botox to help maintain her youthful appearance.

The star was pictured attending an event in London earlier this week, which led to rumours circulating that she had once again turned to dermal fillers to banish lines and wrinkles. In an interview last year Kylie admitted she had used the product in the past but said had no intention of doing so again.

Allergan creates 400 jobs at new research facility

The popularity of dermal fillers and cosmetic surgery treatments has led one product manufacturer to invest $12m in a new research and development facility.

California-based Allergan, known around the world for its line and wrinkle treatment Botox, has announced it is to build a new 100,000 sq ft base in New Jersey. The company has yet to choose a specific site, but Allergan said it expects to create 400 new jobs in the state over the next five years.

Kylie latest celebrity to spark cosmetic treatment rumours

The wrinkle-free complexion of 43-year-old superstar Kylie Minogue has led to questions being asked as to whether she has undergone a cosmetic surgery treatment.

The singer was photographed last night attending a dinner and charity concert hosted by George Michael at the Royal Opera House in London. According to a report by the Daily Mail newspaper, rumours circulated for years that Kylie was using Botox, something she only admitted to last year. At the same time she also denied having had a face lift.

America is experiencing a surge in demand for couples cosmetic surgery, with people choosing to grow young together.

Medical director of Reflections Centre in New Jersey, USA, Dr Mitchell Chasin, said: “Years ago, we would see a wife come in and she would say, ‘I can’t let my husband know what I’m doing’. And then the husband would come in and he would say, ‘you know what, this is a secret, please don’t tell my wife’.”

Men, ‘Movember’ and Moisturiser

It’s ‘Movember’ – a month long charity event which sees men growing moustaches to raise money for men’s health charities – and with this comes the fitting news that more men are realising just how powerful their face can be. This month the focus may be on raising money for great causes, but the bigger picture depicts men all over the world taking steps, usually taken by women, to make themselves look youthful and rejuvenated.

There has been a noticeable trend of men having Botox and other cosmetic treatments – women, it won’t be long before you notice your boyfriend / husband / son sneaking a squirt of your moisturiser or energising face scrub for men starts appearing in the trolley during your weekly shop.

Allergan profits boosted by line and wrinkle treatment

The makers of Botox have cited the injectable line and wrinkle treatment as the reason for healthy profits in the third quarter of the year.

Allergan, which also makes Juvederm dermal filler, announced profits of $249.8 million (approximately £156.2 million) for the third quarter, with global sales of Botox reaching $396.7 million (£248 million) to date.
