Amanda Holden, a judge on ITV1’s reality television show Britain’s Got Talent, has struck out against those who say she is a diva.

The 40-year-old denied accusations that she has used her looks to achieve fame and success and denies having cosmetic surgery to stay looking young. She has however revealed that she has had Botox injections to smooth out lines and wrinkles but that she wouldn’t consider cosmetic surgery.

In an interview with STV.com, Holden said: “I have always looked young, that’s the thing. Just before Christmas I bought a bottle of Baileys in Tesco and the man asked me for ID.

“I couldn’t believe it. I said, ‘Look, I am going to be 40 in two months, but I love you for asking’.”

The blonde bombshell is currently presiding over comedian Michael McIntyre and television legend David Hasselhoff on the judging panel of Britain’s Got Talent.

Music mogul Simon Cowell returned to Britain’s screens at the weekend in all the pomp and glory one has come to expect.

He emerged onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage through a cloud of smoke wearing a classic grey suit and white shirt, both unbuttoned almost to the waist revealing a honed chest. But it was his face that gave him the ‘X Factor’ and sparked rumours that he has had Botox injections and possibly dermal fillers to plump up his cheeks and lips.

Arriving to the Superman theme tune and to rapturous applause from the live audience, the 51-year-old certainly looked younger than his years. His smoothed out face gave away little of the stresses he is rumoured to be facing over the recent sacking of Cheryl Cole from the US version of The X Factor, and her absence from the judging of the UK version too.

Viewers of Saturday night’s auditions on the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent got more than they bargained for when Britney Spears impersonator, Lorna Bliss, stripped off for her three minutes of fame.

The 32-year-old may well be the most outrageous wannabe yet with her nearly-naked rendition of hit single Toxic. Bliss, who wore a black dressing gown to talk to the judges, paraded about wearing nothing but a white thong and hundreds of stick-on body jewels, in her tribute act to the American superstar.

Bliss admits to having spent £135,000 on cosmetic surgery to look like the star, saying before she went on stage that, “if Britney tightens up, I tighten up”. She even shaved her head when Britney did and has all the same tattoos as the singer.

Judges Amanda Holden, David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre were shocked but intrigued, not pressing their red buzzers until the performance had almost come to an end. But they were not intrigued enough to put her through to the next round and Bliss left empty handed – or did she? Some critics have suggested that the impersonator is actually quite good and performed like she did in order to grab the headlines and a few minutes in the spotlight.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has always been an advocate of cosmetic surgery for helping people hold onto their youthful looks into middle-age, and the 50-year-old star recently revealed his plans for a substantial makeover before his wedding to fiancée Mezghan Hussainy later this year.

If watching the highs and lows of Britain’s Got Talent over the last few weeks has made me feel anything – apart from general excitement! – it’s a reminder of how much more I love the X Factor. It’s the perfect show to help you wind down after a jam packed summer and, although the audition stages are the episodes that make me laugh the most, I love that it helps really talented people finally realise their dreams. Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has revealed that she’d like to look like Joan Rivers – one of the biggest advocates of cosmetic surgery in show business – when she gets older.

In an interview with Heat magazine, the 38-year-old said: “I want to look like Joan Rivers. I don’t see the point in growing old gracefully.” (more…)
