Christmas brings rise of cosmetic surgery gifts

The approach of the festive season has seen a rise in the number of people buying cosmetic surgery gift vouchers.

The number of people choosing to give their loved ones the opportunity to choose a cosmetic procedure or non surgical solutions as a Christmas gift appears to be on the rise, with recent figures from The Harley Medical Group showing a 200 per cent rise in year-on-year sales of gift vouchers. Australia reflects UK’s Christmas cosmetic surgery boost

New figures from Down Under suggest that Australia, like the UK, is experiencing a boom in cosmetic surgery in the run up to Christmas.

According to Sify News, Peter Callan, president of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, said there was a spike in all cosmetic surgery procedures in the country, and that women in their 20s and 30s were more inclined to book breast enlargement treatments while those in their 30s and 40s were more likely to book Botox or fillers. Christmas season causes a cosmetic surgery upswing

The fast approaching Christmas season has caused an upswing in the number of people booking themselves in for cosmetic surgery and non surgical solutions.

Figures from The Harley Medical Group show a 35 per cent surge in the number of appointments booked in the month before Christmas and that the most popular surgical treatments in the run up to the 2010 festive season have been: breast enlargement, nose reshaping, and liposuction procedures. Christmas comes earlier every year

Every year the complaints from my mum are the same, ‘why do they have the Christmas treats in the shops, Halloween isn’t even over yet?’ she cries. And I have to say, I do see where she’s coming from – it seems as though we’re barely coming to terms with saying good bye to the sun when the Christmas carols start sneaking onto sound systems.

On the other hand, while it may be a little early to begin planning your wish list for Santa or start preparing your Christmas menu, it’s now the ideal time of year to get your Christmas beauty regime on the go. (more…)

Christmas cheer is here

The clinics and offices are buzzing with festive cheer at the moment and I’m wondering if we’re going to be getting a white Christmas this year. I hope so! There’s nothing like feelings as though you’ve stepped out of a Christmas card.

While this time of year is one for celebrating, I know it’s one where people can sometimes find themselves feeling self conscious about the way they look. While the summer holds its own body challenges, from sun burned and damaged skin to bikini-on-the-beach fears, so does the festive period. (more…)

I look away for two minutes, or one nice quiet weekend, and all of a sudden we’re in December. How did it sneak up on me this year? I like to think I’m normally quite organised when it comes to the festive season – especially seeing as I love Christmas shopping so much! – but somehow it’s caught me unawares.
