Actress Betty White finally admits to cosmetic surgery

Friday, June 10th, 2011

dv1768011Ageing actress Betty White has finally admitted to having cosmetic surgery after years of claiming she had grown old gracefully.

The 80-year-old, who has won seven Emmy Awards over her long career, made the revelation in her book entitled ‘If You Ask Me’. Last year White was quoted as saying that she’s glad she hasn’t gone under the knife and that she wished her old friends would follow in her footsteps and grow old gracefully.

In her book, White writes: “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature! But in 1976 I had my eyelids done. I scolded myself forever, but now I’m glad I did it.”

Before and after pictures of White at that time show that the surgery rid her of eye bags and tightened the skin around both eyes.

White joins a long list of celebrities who have denied having cosmetic surgery for years, but who eventually admit that they have had a little help to delay the effects of ageing.

Louis Walsh vows to have more cosmetic surgery ‘to survive’

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Irish band manager Louis Walsh has admitted that he would have more cosmetic surgery if it meant he secured his place on the judging panel for the latest series of the X Factor.

The 58-year-old has already admitted to having surgery to remove his eye bags and cosmetic treatments to whiten his teeth, allegedly on Simon Cowell’s insistence. Walsh last night told reporters that cosmetic surgery was essential in his industry and that “if you want to last, you have to do it.”

The music mogul’s comments come amid reports that one of the show’s regular judges, Dannii Minogue, has already been axed, with her replacement yet to be announced. Cowell, 51, has been concentrating on the promotion of the US version of the talent show, taking Cheryl Cole with him to join Paula Abdul on the judging panel.  He is yet to comment on the controversy surrounding Minogue or Walsh.

Daily Mail reporter writes diary of eye bag surgery

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Daily Mail reporter Diana Appleyard has written a comprehensive diary of her recent eye bag removal surgery in a bid to give cosmetic surgery a new perspective.

The 50-year-old, who is married with two children, Beth 22, and Charlotte, 17, decided to opt for the surgery after seeing pictures of herself in which she thought she looked “103 years old”. But she didn’t tell her husband or daughters that she had booked in for a consultation, and left it until the surgery was booked to confide in her family.

Appleyard’s reasoning behind the surgery was not pure vanity, she explained, but instead a way of removing a problem that she saw as “genetic”.

“There is mad psychology in my wanting this eye procedure”, she wrote.

“I have told myself my eye bags are genetic — my father had lots of loose skin under his eyes — and so in my view this operation is somehow ‘medical’”.

Despite her reasons, she was adamant that this would be it for cosmetic surgery, something her husband was grateful for. Now Appleyard says she can’t help looking in the mirror and thinking “Oh it’s you – but better!”

Theo Paphitis accuses fellow dragon of having more plastic surgery than Joan Rivers

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Entrepreneur, millionaire and star of the BBC’s hit show Dragon’s Den, Theo Paphitis, has revealed exactly what he thinks of fellow dragons Duncan Bannatyne and Peter Jones.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Paphitis talked about Duncan’s plastic surgery and Peter Jones’ vanity.

“There is no aftermarket equipment with me, but there is with some of the others. Dugan, (Duncan) has had more work done than Joan Rivers. It’s frightening – you should see the stitches sometimes”, he said.

“Peter has his own mirror backstage and is the last to finish getting ready. Before we start filming, he looks at the mirror and says; ‘It doesn’t get better than this’.”

Bannatyne, who is 62, has admitted having surgery to remove eye bags, as well as teeth whitening and a hair transplant. Jones, 45, recently admitted that he would consider having plastic surgery when he gets to Bannatyne’s age.

Paphitis’ comments come ahead of his new television series Britain’s Next Big Thing, in which hopefuls pitch to retailers rather than dragons, and starts on BBC2 next week.
