IHAS warns consumers against ‘unsafe’ injectable deals

Consumers should be wary of deals offering discount Botox from sources that do not disclose their clinical background.

This is the advice from the Independent Healthcare Advisory Service (IHAS) which says the number of daily deals offering cheap Botox injections to consumers who are coerced into making hasty decisions is alarming.

Sally Taber, Director at IHAS, told the Daily Mail: “We are concerned by the increasing number of misleading and potentially unsafe deals for such treatments on group buying sites, which are not only misleading but also putting the public at risk.”

Treatments for lines and wrinkles most popular in the warmer months

100159780A cosmetic surgeon in Australia has revealed that Botox treatments seem to be more popular during the warmer months of the year.

Alex Pike, an injectables practitioner at FACEclinic in Border, Australia, said that the treatment was more popular during the summer and that requests for Botox injections had increased by 20 per cent in the last six months.

More stark warnings against DIY injectable treatments

News site MSNBC asked Dr Tracy Favreau, a dermatologist at Nova Southeastern University, about the risks  associated with Botox kits. In response, Dr Favreau warned of the “horrible results” that are “almost killing people”, and described buying kits online as “a catastrophe waiting to happen”.

New study reveals women’s cosmetic surgery influences

A new study has revealed that the training and expertise of a particular surgeon is the number one defining factor for women who are considering cosmetic surgery.

The research, conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and Dermik Laboratories, focused on women aged 35 to 69 who have considered a medical anti-ageing treatment or received fillers or other injectables, like Botox, in the past. (more…)
