Cosmetic surgery regulations will protect patients in Ireland

Cosmetic surgery in Ireland is a growing industry estimated to be worth around €30 million (£24m), but with ever more people in Ireland choosing to enhance their appearance with surgery, new regulations and laws need to be put in place to make sure they are in safe hands.

Labros Chatzis, a cosmetic surgeon working in Ireland, told the Irish Independent that a new legal framework needs to be established to drive rogue surgeons out of the country. These unlicensed, unethical and untrained practitioners often tempt patients with cut-price, quick surgical fixes that can be harmful to their health, and do not offer consultations or after care to guide patients through the process and ensure they receive their desired results from surgery. New TV show dedicated to cosmetic surgery

A new TV show being launched in Ireland will explore the world of cosmetic surgery, with some treatments being carried out live in the studio.

Caroline Morahan, star of Off the Rails, will present the new six-part series, titled The Cosmetic Surgery Show: What a Load of Botox. Caroline will be joined by celebrity plastic surgeon Dr Robert Rey, star of Dr 90210. (more…)
