Cosmetic laser treatments see record rise in US

The popularity of cosmetic laser treatments in the USA has seen record rises over the last three years, according to new data from the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS).

First Science.com reports that AACS cosmetic surgeons have seen a 456 per cent rise in men and a 215 per cent increase in women opting for laser resurfacing. This laser procedure is designed to minimise wrinkles and facial lines.

What’s more, laser hair removal treatments are now the second most performed non-invasive procedure in the country, following Botox injections . (more…)

My preparations for summer continues…

I saw somebody walking down the street in cropped leggings and ballet shoes the other day. That can only mean one thing – we’re finally leaving winter behind! Which also means that it’s about time I started to step up my preparations for summer and get my beauty regime under control. I’ve been paying extra attention to revitalizing my dry winter skin already and it’s certainly perked me up a bit, but now it’s the thought of baring my arm pits and shins in summer dresses that’s on my mind. Shaving every day is more hassle than I can be bothered with, and I hate the smell of creams so I’m going for laser hair removal this year. (more…)

Cosmetic surgery defies economic downturn

New research has indicated that the cosmetic surgery market is defying the global economic downturn, as business booms thanks to Brits that want to invest in their looks through cosmetic surgery procedures.

The figures released by the Harley Medical Group have found that the cosmetic surgery industry saw a 26 per cent growth rate year-on-year. (more…)

A recently released report has discovered an all-time high in the demand for laser hair removal treatments.

The report found that patients are looking to take the hassle out of Christmas with the help of laser hair removal. The stress of juggling work, family commitments and Christmas shopping has led to a boom in the cosmetic procedure, with bookings up by 25 per cent throughout November. (more…)

Liposuction tackling non-traditional problem areas

New research has revealed that increasing numbers of cosmetic surgery patients are requesting liposuction on non-traditional areas of the body, such as on the back and under the arms.

Conventionally, liposuction has been used on the stomach, to eliminate fatty deposits held there. However, it seems that rising consumer awareness about plastic surgery procedures has led to burgeoning demand for the treatment on other problem areas. (more…)

It may not have been the sunniest of summers, but I still like to get a little of my legs on show when I can – whether that means ankle skimming pedal pushers on greyer days or a little above the knee skirt when I’m feeling brave. But the problem of hairy legs always raises itself – as it does for so many women.
