The results of a small study could give hope to people suffering with depression.
Ten clinically depressed patients who had not responded to traditional treatments such as medication and counselling were offered Botox injections to paralyse the facial muscles which allow a person to frown.
According to Sonja Lyumbomirsky, author of The How of Happiness, nine out of the ten patients were no longer considered to be depressed. The patients were all women and those who saw positive results did so after just two months of having the non-surgical treatment, often used for cosmetic reasons.

Botox and surgical procedures including tummy tucks are topping the list of many people’s wish lists this Christmas.
Surgeons in Orange County, America, have noted a rise in the number of patients opting for non-surgical treatments and surgical procedures in the run-up to Christmas. One such example is Tina Franklin, a resident in Orange County, who has put Botox on her Christmas list because she wants to start the New Year feeling ‘fresh’.
Ms Franklin’s older sister Nicole Tuzzolino obliged her sister’s request and paid $650 (£415) for the treatment.

Veteran pop star Madonna and star of Sex in the City Kim Cattrall have sparked rumours that they have given up on the anti-ageing quest.
Both women appeared on the red carpet at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan for the premier of Madonna’s new film W.E. at the weekend, and both bore the natural signs of ageing – something both have famously kept at bay to date.

Madonna has announced that despite looking half her age she has ditched her reliance on Botox and other cosmetic treatments.
The 53-year-old pop superstar was photographed looking fresh-faced while judging a dance contest in New York. She chose to wear black leather hotpants, lace-up over the knee boots and fishnet tights – adding to her “young” image.
The singer, whose new single is yet to be released but which has been leaked online, reportedly told a friend that she was worried about looking like a “freak” if she continued to have Botox injections.

The wrinkle-free complexion of 43-year-old superstar Kylie Minogue has led to questions being asked as to whether she has undergone a cosmetic surgery treatment.
The singer was photographed last night attending a dinner and charity concert hosted by George Michael at the Royal Opera House in London. According to a report by the Daily Mail newspaper, rumours circulated for years that Kylie was using Botox, something she only admitted to last year. At the same time she also denied having had a face lift.

It’s ‘Movember’ – a month long charity event which sees men growing moustaches to raise money for men’s health charities – and with this comes the fitting news that more men are realising just how powerful their face can be. This month the focus may be on raising money for great causes, but the bigger picture depicts men all over the world taking steps, usually taken by women, to make themselves look youthful and rejuvenated.
There has been a noticeable trend of men having Botox and other cosmetic treatments – women, it won’t be long before you notice your boyfriend / husband / son sneaking a squirt of your moisturiser or energising face scrub for men starts appearing in the trolley during your weekly shop.

The makers of Botox have cited the injectable line and wrinkle treatment as the reason for healthy profits in the third quarter of the year.
Allergan, which also makes Juvederm dermal filler, announced profits of $249.8 million (approximately £156.2 million) for the third quarter, with global sales of Botox reaching $396.7 million (£248 million) to date.

New research suggests that eating fewer calories could slow the ageing process and prevent lines and wrinkles.
Scientists from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, have found that sticking to a diet which sees a reduction in sugar and protein consumption, and ensures a healthy balance of vitamins and minerals could slow the ageing process and reduce the chances of developing cancer, dementia and type-2 diabetes.

X Factor finalist Kitty Brucknell has admitted to using dermal fillers to smooth out the appearance of her forehead.
The 26-year-old, who began having Botox injections earlier this year, told the Daily Mail she was worried her frown lines would turn into permanent wrinkles. The singer said she opted to have the anti-aging treatment after watching footage of herself on stage and realising that she was frowning.

Reality television star Maria Fowler has revealed that she is having more Botox injections this week to iron out wrinkles caused by stress.
The 25-year-old star of ITV2s The Only Way Is Essex has admitted to feeling the pressure of a life in the spotlight after rumours circulated that she had signed up to an escort agency. The claims, picked up by national newspapers, said that Fowler had joined an agency where wealthy clients pay up to £600 an hour for sex.
