New figures have indicated that men in the city are driving an increase in cosmetic surgery procedures.
While women remain the most likely to turn to cosmetic surgery, there is increasing evidence that men are investigating procedures more commonly. Research from The Harley Medical Group has found that September brought a 24 per cent month on month increase in enquires and that a number of them were from men. (more…)

The United Arab Emirates is the latest region to join the trend of increasing instances of male cosmetic surgery.
Like the UK and the USA, more and more men in the UAE are turning to cosmetic surgery to change aspects of their appearance with which they are unhappy. According to the Khaleej Times, cosmetologists are reporting that as many as 20 per cent of people undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures are men, a number far higher than the global average of 12 per cent. Cosmetic surgery clinics around the world are seeing an increase in the number of men seeking Botox – or ‘Boytox’ – injections.
A report in the Times notes that there has been a recent sharp rise in the number of men seeking Botox jabs. The report notes that in the United States, about 30,000 American men are having the procedure every six weeks. (more…)

New numbers have shown that breast augmentations have come out on top of American cosmetic surgery trends in 2008.
Breast surgery eclipsed liposuction as the procedure of choice for American women last year. The survey from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery found that many women are now choosing to exercise in order to get rid of excess fat. (more…)

CITY boys are increasingly spending their redundancy cash on going under the knife to boost their chances of getting a new job, figures have revealed.

According to data taken from The Harley Medical Group covering the past five years, there has been a surge in corrective surgery catering to patients who have lost a dramatic amount of weight.
Various cosmetic procedures, such as tummy tucks, breast uplifts and male breast reduction have all seen growing popularity in the past five years as more and more previously obese people are losing massive volumes of weight. The cosmetic surgery provider conduced over 10,000 of these treatments, known as Post-Obesity Surgery (POS), and a distinct rise in figures appears in the data. (more…)

Britain’s rising obesity rates have caused a jump in the number of tummy tucks carried out in the UK, according to new research.
The study, released by the Harley Medical Group, shows that the number of tummy tucks carried out on both men and women have risen by almost one third since 2003.
The majority of patients seeking the operation are said to be people whose post-dieting bodies have left large amounts of excess skin. (more…)
