Cosmetic surgery on list of popular Christmas presents for 2011

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Botox and surgical procedures including tummy tucks are topping the list of many people’s wish lists this Christmas.

Surgeons in Orange County, America, have noted a rise in the number of patients opting for non-surgical treatments and surgical procedures in the run-up to Christmas. One such example is Tina Franklin, a resident in Orange County, who has put Botox on her Christmas list because she wants to start the New Year feeling ‘fresh’.

Ms Franklin’s older sister Nicole Tuzzolino obliged her sister’s request and paid $650 (£415) for the treatment.

AA032392Continued growth of the plastic surgery market is in large part due to “mummy makeovers”, says one plastic surgeon.

Dr Thomas Lintner, a cosmetic surgery in Atlanta, USA, believes that of the 1.6 million surgical procedures recorded by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in 2010, a large proportion were probably women looking to regain their pre-pregnancy figures.

The secret to looking good into your 50s is a combination of supplements and cosmetic treatments.

This is according to experts who appeared on the latest episode of the Dr Oz Show, which airs on American television. Experts on the show clarified that caring for and maintenance of older skin is very different to that of younger skin. Younger skin benefits from great skin care products, while older skin benefits from a simple skin care regime with minimal products. Using too many different products can cause irritation, redness and even acne on those aged 50 or more.

NYC surgeon sees rise in requests for ‘mummy makeovers’

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

101468487A cosmetic surgeon in New York City, US, has seen a huge rise in the number of requests from women for so-called ‘mummy makeovers’.

The popularity of the mummy makeover – the combination of tummy tuck surgery, liposuction, breast uplift and breast augmentation – is apparently growing among an increasingly younger age group. Where once surgeons performed such procedures on women in their 50s and 60s, Dr Matthew Schulman, assistant professor of plastic surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, says he is seeing more and more women in their 30s and 40s.

Rise in popularity of the ‘mummy makeover’

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

More and more women are choosing to undergo a series of cosmetic surgery procedures after giving birth, according to online newspaper American Health and Beauty.

The newspaper describes how for some new mothers, a healthy diet and plenty of regular exercise is just not enough to get the body back to the shape and condition it was in before pregnancy.

The term ‘mummy makeover’ refers to a combination of surgical procedures which includes breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, and vaginoplasty (also colloquially known as designer vagina).

Each procedure targets common body shape issues that women face post-pregnancy, including loose folds of skin and excess pockets of fat around the abdominal area, and breasts that have lost their volume, shape, and lift due to breastfeeding.

Combining these procedures can end up saving the patient money and ensures that overall recovery time is as short as possible.

Yummy mummies under pressure from celebrities?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Having a baby is one of the most precious and important things that will ever happen to you, and for women everywhere it’s a very personal and private experience. However, it seems as though this special time is being more and more influenced – like so many things these days – by celebrities.

Earlier this week I was reading the Metro online and I found an article saying that new mothers were getting caught up in the pressure to lose weight after having a baby – and that a lot of this was to do with celebrities and their seemingly impossible ability to snap back into their pre-baby shape very soon after giving birth. Kerry Katona turns to non surgical tummy tightening solutions

Friday, October 1st, 2010

The Daily Mail reports that ex-Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona has undergone tummy tightening non surgical treatments, in a bid to look her best ahead of her career re-launching appearance on the next series of Dancing on Ice, which begins early next year.

The Mail reports that Kerry has turned to tummy tightening non surgical solutions treatments, often a precursor to tummy tuck surgery, following her dramatic weight-loss, which has seen the TV celebrity drop several dress sizes after enlisting the help of a ‘boot camp’-style personal trainer.

Kerry’s weight loss and newly tightened tummy seem to be part of a wider image overhaul or ‘mummy makeover’ that has also seen the star and mother of four dress more stylishly and sport a new and sleek bobbed hairdo following her split from partner Mark Croft.

A fan of cosmetic surgery, Kerry has previously undergone surgery worth £15,000 ahead of a photo-shoot with ZOO magazine in 2008.

At the time, Kerry told the Daily Mail “I feel sexier, my confidence has come back and everyone keeps telling me how amazing I look, which is really cool,” Katona’s extensive plastic surgery before the glamour shoot included a boob job.

Dancing on Ice
pairs celebrities with ice skating professionals, in competition against each other, under the guidance of Olympic gold-winners Torvill and Dean. Kerry will be featured on the show’s sixth season.
