More people opting for laser hair removal

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Increasing numbers of women are opting for laser hair removal treatment, to escape “the life-long drudgery of waxing and shaving”, according to a story published today.

The report by Manchester Confidential also found that laser hair removal is chosen out of necessity by those with unwanted facial hair, or those suffering with the painful problem of persistent ingrown hairs. And it is not just women opting for the treatment, men who suffer from irritation on the beard line due to regular shaving are also booking in to have it done.

The online magazine cites the main reasons for undergoing a course of laser hair removal as, wanting to find a more permanent hair removal solution, to avoid shaving rash, to treat ingrown hairs, and to save money on waxing and threading in the long run.

Treatment lengths differ from person to person but an average of eight sessions is said to be the optimum number for most people, with treatments on the face recommended every four weeks, and treatments on the body every six.

Timing your cosmetic treatments right

One thing I always want to remind people of when they’re booking their cosmetic treatments is timing – you really do have to get the timing right for some things! For example, I’ve seen women who want to have a boob job before their wedding, but they don’t come and see us until a month before the ceremony. As you may have guessed, that doesn’t leave anywhere near enough time for you to have a consultation, be booked in for your treatment and then recover afterwards!

When you’re thinking about having any treatment, it’s a very good idea to find out how long it will take and if there any times that are particularly suited to the specific treatment. Laser hair removal is another really good example of this. As it takes several treatments to achieve the best results, it’s a good idea to start your course of treatments a good few months before summer. (more…)

Feeling smooth with laser hair removal

Friday, August 20th, 2010

If you’re someone like me, who gets a little fed up at the thought of having to shave every time I want to wear a short skirt, you might have already had a think about laser hair removal. This is a treatment that takes a few sessions, but that can drastically reduce the amount of body hair you have.

For some people, body hair isn’t a problem at all, but for others it can be something that makes them feel very self-conscious – especially if their hair is particularly dark or heavy, or grows in unusual or prominent places. One of the great things about laser hair removal is that it’s not restricted to your legs or armpits, it’s sensitive enough to be carried out in a number of places – including your face, or even your nipples. Facing up to the truth

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

A few weeks ago, TV star Leslie Ash presented a documentary about non surgical cosmetic procedures called Face to Face. Not only was it an entertaining show, but it actually highlighted some important issues.
