Patients undergoing nose reshaping surgery want to look like themselves.
This changing view of rhinoplasty – the medical term for nose reshaping surgery – has been noted by Robert Glasgold, a plastic surgeon from New Jersey.
“Everyone comes in and wants to look like themselves,” said Mr Glasgold.
“They don’t want to look like they had their nose done.”

People who opt to have their noses reshaped tend to look younger after surgery, regardless of their age, researchers have suggested.
A study carried out at the University of Toronto in Canada involved 53 men and women between the ages of 15 and 61 who had undergone rhinoplasty operations.

Bleeding Heart singer Leona Lewis’ appearance at Wembley Arena over the weekend has led to speculation that the former X Factor star has had a nose job.
The 26-year-old took to the stage on Saturday night as part of ITV’s live finals show to perform her latest single Hurt, and fans immediately took to Twitter to chat about her apparently altered appearance.

Plastic surgery procedures that are “visible” are proving to be the most popular with female patients.
Nose jobs, boob jobs and face lifts have topped a list of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures for 2010. According to the latest industry figures, 38,274 surgical procedures were carried out in 2010, compared with 36,482 in the previous year – an increase of 5 per cent. Of those who underwent procedures, almost 90 per cent (34,413) were women.

Women in Saudi Arabia are increasingly turning to cosmetic surgery, one of the country’s leading plastic surgeons has said.
In an interview with The Saudi Gazette, Dr Ayman Farhat, a consultant plastic surgeon working in Saudi Arabia, said: “The most common beauty procedures that Saudi women are scheduling are liposuction, plastic surgery on the nose, Botox injections and fillers, and hair removal by laser. Men also seek treatment, mainly for plastic surgery and reshaping of the nose, hair implants, and liposuction.”

This year’s MTV music awards have sparked further rumours of stars such as Britney Spears choosing to have cosmetic surgery procedures.
Spears, 29, who won the Video Vanguard Award and the award for the Best Pop Video, and Lady Gaga, 25, winter of the Best Female Video award and Best Video with a Message award, were the two celebrities causing the most stir. Gaga recently denied that the horn-like lumps on her head and shoulders were artificial and denies having had a nose job, despite before and after pictures strongly suggesting otherwise.

Labour leader Ed Miliband has undergone nose reshaping surgery in a bid to cure his sleep apnoea.
A friend of the politician denied rumours that the operation was to make his voice sound less nasal, and confirmed that he sounds exactly the same as he did before the surgery. The procedure was said to have cost the taxpayer £1,300 and focused on correcting a deviated septum, which can make the condition of sleep apnoea worse.
A spokeswoman for the Labour leader said: “He is now recovering for a few days before going on holiday with his family.”

Teenagers opt for nose and ear reshaping surgery, young adults choose breast augmentation, those entering middle age pick liposuction and eye bag removal is most popular with those in old age.
These are the findings of two sets of statistics – one from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the other from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). The Orange County Register pulled together the statistics, which focus entirely on female patients, and published ‘Plastic Surgery From Teenage to Old’ today.
