Footage of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards undergoing plastic surgery is to be aired in the new series of the US show.

Speculation arose that the reality TV star had been for a cosmetic procedure when she was spotted with what the Daily Mail described as a “suspiciously refined nose”.

Speaking to the Asian Age, cosmetic dermatologist at Medihope Hospitals Dr Radhika Vemama revealed most brides who want to alter their appearance go for chemical peels and laser treatments.

Beirut overtakes LA as the world’s plastic surgery capital

New figures have suggested that Beirut has become the world’s capital for plastic surgery, replacing LA at the top of the table.

According to a report by the Huffington Post, the capital of Lebanon has overtaken Los Angeles and Miami to become the world’s plastic surgery hotspot.

Demand for cosmetic surgery in Dubai increases by 100%

New figures released by the Dubai Health Authority have revealed a huge spike in the number of people having cosmetic surgery procedures in Dubai.

According to the organisation, 68,000 men and women underwent surgical and non-surgical treatments at the country’s clinics last year – double 2010′s total.

Why is male plastic surgery on the rise?

Over the last decade or so there has been a marked increase in the number of American men opting for cosmetic procedures, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) believes it has the answer to why this is the case.

In the past, plastic surgery may have been seen as a women-only choice, but numbers of men choosing to enhance their appearance has increased by 121 per cent since 1997 according to ASPS. Dr Paul M Parker, who runs the Parker Centre for Plastic Surgery in New Jersey, believes this could have something to do with how men see themselves, as well as the influence of new technologies.

Male cosmetic surgery up 121 per cent

The number of men opting to have cosmetic surgery procedures is up by 121 per cent.

This is according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), who have released their 2011 figures and compared these with the same figures from 1997.

Surgical advancements are undoubtedly one reason for this dramatic increase in procedures, but experts believe that stigma that may have once been attached to men having surgery for cosmetic reasons has been lost in recent years.

New York Fashion Week prompts Victoria Beckham dermal filler speculation

Pictures of Victoria Beckham at New York Fashion Week have prompted speculation that she has had Botox and other injectable treatments.

The popstar-turned-fashion designer, and wife of international footballer David Beckham, looked chic and sophisticated, with her long dark hair hanging in loose waves and not a line, wrinkle or sign of ageing in sight.

In a feature published by the Daily Mail, one cosmetic surgery expert explained that Victoria’s thin face proves that she has probably not had any fillers, but he said she may well have had Botox and laser skin treatment.

Patients undergoing nose reshaping surgery want to look like themselves.

This changing view of rhinoplasty – the medical term for nose reshaping surgery – has been noted by Robert Glasgold, a plastic surgeon from New Jersey.

“Everyone comes in and wants to look like themselves,” said Mr Glasgold.

“They don’t want to look like they had their nose done.”

Patients look younger after nose jobs

People who opt to have their noses reshaped tend to look younger after surgery, regardless of their age, researchers have suggested.

A study carried out at the University of Toronto in Canada involved 53 men and women between the ages of 15 and 61 who had undergone rhinoplasty operations.
