Cosmetic surgery hots up for summer

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

57280023Plastic surgeons in New Orleans have noted a rise in the number of enquiries for body-shaping procedures, such as liposuction, in the run up to the summer months.

Dr Michelle M Cooper, who runs a cosmetic surgery clinic in the city, issued a press release in which she said that many of her patients were unable to the bodies they want simply by healthy eating and regular exercise.

“Many of my patients have been exercising and following a healthy diet in order to prepare for the warmer summer months, but they still have certain problem areas that just don’t seem to improve – such as ‘love handles’ or ‘saddle bags’, said Dr Cooper.

“Plastic surgery procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck are often chosen to correct those minor imperfections and give them the body they have worked so hard to attain,” she added.

Cosmetic surgery clinics in the UK have also seen a rise in the number of enquiries in the spring months, with many patients opting for breast implants, laser hair removal and liposuction before the bikini season starts.

Janice Dickinson shows off breast enlargement surgery in tight dress

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Veteran model Janice Dickinson hit the headlines today thanks to a rather revealing outfit that left very little to the imagination. The 56-year-old flaunted her very thin figure and the results of breast enlargement surgery in a short, tight, gold dress, as she partied at New York’s District 36 nightclub last night.

As well as breast implants, Dickinson readily admits to having had other cosmetic surgery procedures, including a tummy tuck, face lift and neck lift, Botox and liposuction surgery.

She looked confident with her body as she posed for photographers outside the venue, and once inside danced the night away with the help of a couple of bottles of Moet champagne.

In an interview with Closer magazine last year, Dickinson said: “There’s no such thing as too much.”

“Whatever it takes to make an individual feel better, I’m all for it. In my 40s I signed up for Botox and now I have it every six months.”

More mums opting for breast surgery

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

You might have noticed that there seems to be a celebrity baby boom in progress, with a variety of shapes and sizes on view for us to ogle at. From the voluptuous British television presenter Holly Willoughby, to slender Hollywood A-lister Natalie Portman, it’s quite clear that being pregnant changes the body shape in dramatically different ways.

And as the baby boom continues to fill the pages of glossy magazines, figures suggest that more and more non-celebrity women are looking for ways in which they can put their bodies back to how they were before they became pregnant. The Harley Medical Group has reported that bookings for breast augmentation surgery at their UK clinics were up 31 per cent year-on-year, liposuction up 27 per cent and tummy tucks up 15 per cent over the same period – all popular choices with new mums.

For many women, it can be very difficult to come to terms with an often significantly altered body shape as the result of pregnancy, and this can prove too much of a dent in self-esteem for some to bear. Surgical options are allowing these women to look and feel like they did before their baby was born and regain their body confidence.

Plastic surgery rumours still surround Britney Spears

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Britney Spears is still being dogged by rumours that she has undergone a number of plastic surgery procedures over the last few years, despite suggesting in a recent interview that she hadn’t yet had surgery but wouldn’t rule it out in the future.

Last month, the pop star told Out magazine that she was excited about turning 30 this year and that “when it’s time to pull and tuck, I’m sure I will consider it”.

Experts have suggested that the singer has already had liposuction surgery, a tummy tuck, dermal lip fillers, breast implants and further surgery to replace the original implants with smaller ones.

She is also rumoured to have had a nose job early on in her career, but surgeons suggest that because she was already in the limelight and didn’t want the press to notice, she chose to go for a smaller version of her natural nose, rather than to change the shape of it completely.

Shameless actress wants tummy tuck and breast implants

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Tina Malone, the actress made famous by her loud-mouthed character Mimi Maguire in British drama series Shameless, has revealed that she wants a tummy tuck and breast implants.

Malone has lost 10 stone in the last two years, with help from two gastric band operations – the second being fitted after the actress piled on two stone following the removal of the first. The 48-year-old told the Daily Mail online that having lost the weight, she now wants to fix the damage she has done to her body over the years by undergoing a series of cosmetic surgery operations.

In the interview published today, she said: “I’m going to have a tummy tuck, my boobs lifted and implants put in because my boobs are now like a couple of golf balls in socks.

“I’ll have the extra flab removed from under my arms too. I’m having surgery because I’ve messed up my body for the last 20 years and now I have to clear up that mess.”

Cosmetic surgery was star of Grammy Awards

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

The changing faces of pop stars, singers and musicians stole the show at this year’s Grammy Awards, with the results of a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures on show during performances, awards and acceptance speeches.

Controversial pop star Lady Gaga, who was spotted wearing a bra and not much else at the official after-show party, has reportedly had a nose job. Singer LeAnn Rimes is rumoured to have had breast implants, and veteran pop star Cyndi Lauper had recovered from her recent medical microdermabrasions, and was looking fresh-faced on the red carpet.

Self-confessed plastic surgery fan Cher also made an appearance. She has admitted to having had nose reshaping surgery and breast enlargement surgery, and rumours are rife that she has also had eyelid surgery and a face lift.

Kelly Osbourne and mum Sharon were also in attendance, with the latter apparently looking so youthful as a result of a brow lift, liposuction and a tummy tuck.

Winner of Bridalplasty revealed

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Bride-to-be Allyson Donovan has been announced as the winner of controversial American reality television show Bridalplasty.

Donovan, from Illinois, pipped fellow contestant and New Yorker Jenessa Wainwright to the post, after weeks of wedding-related challenges.

From the opening scenes of the final episode, Donovan was convinced that she would be victorious.

“This is real and quite frankly I am ready to get it on. Allyson – the Chicago born, beer drinking trucker bride is going to be named the winner!”

The winner was chosen by fellow contestants who had been voted off throughout the process. The finalists had to write a speech explaining why they should win, and former competitors then had to choose which of the brides’ weddings they would prefer to attend.

Donovan will now undergo all seven of the surgical procedures on her wish list, which includes liposuction of the chin, tummy tuck, laser skin resurfacing, and breast reduction. She will also win her dream wedding.

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

A growing number of American women aged 20 to 39 are turning to cosmetic surgery in order to regain their svelte, pre-pregnancy figures, a surgical expert has said.

MedicalNewsToday.com reports that Dr. Hugh McLean, a leading cosmetic surgeon, has explained that ‘mummy makeovers’ combining tummy tucks, liposuction, breast uplifts and stretch marks removal have gained in popularity as more new mothers suffer a crisis of confidence following childbirth, particularly as celebrity mothers seem to snap back into shape just weeks after delivery.
