Skincare Tips For Men

Calling all men out there what’s your view on skincare regimes? Do you think they fall into the pointless-stuff-women-do category? Or are you a skincare advocate?

If you’re edging more towards the first category then this blog post is for you ‘ we’re here to teach you all about the importance of skincare for men, and to show you what a huge difference a good regime can make to the appearance of your skin. So gentlemen, read on to find out our top skincare tips for men.

Know your skin type

Before you rush off to buy male skincare products in bulk, it’s important to establish what type of skin you have. Dry and sensitive skin requires moisture and hydration ‘ look for products specifically aimed at your skin type as these will contain the best ingredients for your skin, and clear up those dry patches in no time. If you have large pores, you are likely to have oily skin. Again, look for skincare products which target your needs.

Always use moisturiser

It is essential to keep your skin hydrated and moisturiser will help do this, and keep your skin soft at the same time. Apply a thin layer of moisturiser to your face while it’s still damp from the shower to help lock in extra moisture. If you have oily skin, be careful not to use too much moisturiser as it can clog your pores.

Stay hydrated

For healthy-looking skin, you’ll also need to ensure that you’re hydrating from the outside too, so drink plenty of water and keep an eye on the amount of caffeine and alcohol you’re consuming as they can have a negative effect on your hydration levels.

Consider using retinol-based products

There comes a time in life when we notice a fine line here and a wrinkle there. If you’re looking for an easy way to stave off those wrinkles for a few more years, consider using skincare products containing retinol (vitamin A). This will help to boost cell renewal and stimulate the production of collagen, leaving your skin smooth and young-looking.

Cut down your sugar intake

Research shows that sugar is the biggest contributor to ageing - so if you’ve noticed a few wrinkles appear recently, reducing the amount of sugary food and drinks you consume may be the key.

Stay savvy in the sun

Staying out in the sun for long periods of time can cause premature ageing at best and can lead to cancer at worst. You can prevent both of these by ensuring that you use sunscreen with an SPF30 minimum every time you’re out and about. Remember that the sun’s harmful UV rays can penetrate through clouds too, which means that you’ll also need sun protection on a cloudy day.
