Thread veins

WHY DO WE GET THEM?

Thread veins are often hereditary, but they can also be caused by obesity, hormonal changes (including during pregnancy for example) and trauma to the skin. They are also common among people who have to stand for long periods of time, such as nurses, teachers and beauticians.

PREVENTION AND REDUCTION

There are a few ways to give yourself the best chance of keeping thread veins at bay, even if they’re hereditary. As with many skin conditions, maintaining a healthy weight and cutting down on things like smoking and alcohol can really help to prevent and reduce the appearance of visible veins. Regular exercise is another great way to reduce your chances of developing spider veins.

SPIDER AND THREAD VEIN TREATMENTS

If you’re already noticing spider and thread veins on the face or body, we can help. Laser thread vein treatment and Sclerotherapy are two really quick ways to reduce the appearance of these veins and in many cases, get rid of them altogether. The laser thread vein treatment is perfect for veins that are 1-3mm in size and we recommend an average of five treatments to see the best results. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a highly concentrated saline (salt) solution directly into the vein and is virtually painless process. The number of treatments required varies from person to person and it’s rare for veins to reappear following treatment.
