One of the most important parts of undergoing any treatment is the thought and consideration behind it, which is why we have recruited Jo Hemmings, a Behavioural Psychologist as part of The Harley Medical Group expert panel, to talk about the thought process around whether a surgical or non-surgical treatment is right for them. Here’s a little more about Jo and her experience in psychology and body language analysis.

Jo Hemmings is a Behavioural Psychologist, Dating and Relationship Coach and TV and Radio personality currently appearing as the behavioural psychologist on Channel Five’s Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit on the Side. With degrees from the Universities of Warwick and London, Jo is the UK’s best known and respected Celebrity Psychologist and was the UK’s first Dating Coach.  She runs a private counselling and coaching practice in London.

Jo is currently the Dating Expert of the Year as voted for by the UK Dating Awards.  She is a regular Psychologist on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and This Morning.  Jo has also appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh Show and was the Behavioural Psychologist on C4’s Big Brother’s Little Brother. She also helps behind the scenes on shows, in the contestant selection process, by giving psychological advice and assessment to reality TV producers and contestants both during the selection procedure and the series.

Jo specialises in the psychology of celebrity behaviour and is the Behavioural Expert of choice, discussing the contestants on Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor on BBC and Sky News.  She also appears regularly commenting on celebrity behaviour and body language as well as on topical news stories for Channel Four and Five news.

Jo is the author of six successful books on sex and relationships, writes regularly for magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Heat, New, Female First and Marie Claire.  She regularly comments and contributes to articles for most of the national press, including The Guardian, The Sunday Mirror, The Daily Mail, The Times and The Daily Star as a celebrity psychologist.  In 2014 Jo was voted one of the 12 best British Dating Blogs by  With over 24,000 Twitter followers, from all over the world, Jo also publicises her media work effectively and quickly.  In April 2014 Jo was ranked at number 2 in the UK, and number 17 in the world, in the 30 most prominent psychologists on twitter by

Jo’s latest book is Sizzling Sex - turning the heat up in your sex life. Other books from Jo include Sex Games, How to Have Great Sex, Be Your Own Dating Coach and The Dating Game. She is currently working on a new body language book.

She has a passion for encouraging psychology students to go into media psychology and has given well-received talks on the subject to many universities including Warwick, Trinity College, Dublin and Birkbeck College.

A keen interest in Cosmetic Surgery, Jo has written an article titled "The Psychology of Cosmetic Surgery", which looks at the relationship between surgery, self-esteem and confidence.
