Thread Vein Removal

About Thread Veins

Thread veins are extremely common and sometimes embarrassing, mostly affecting the face, body and legs. The causes of thread veins are unknown although they may be caused by changes in temperature, smoking, hormonal changes, alcohol and prolonged standing as well as being a possible inherited condition.

Benefits of Thread Vein Removal

  • Thread vein treatment is performed quickly, within 30 to 45 minutes, yielding complete results after around 4 or 5 sessions.
  • There is no downtime, and it is faster and more effective than other methods.

Laser and IPL Thread Vein Removal

Lasers and IPL can be used to remove thread veins on the face, body and legs. Laser treatments will remove fine and large thread veins quickly and effectively and two or three sessions is usually all that is needed to leave your skin feeling smooth and blemish-free. This is a non invasive treatment for veins 1-3 mm in size. We generally recommend on average 5 treatments.

Is Thread Vein Removal Right For Me?

Thread veins are extremely common, mostly affecting the face, body and legs. The causes of thread veins are unknown although they may be caused by changes in temperature, smoking, hormonal changes, alcohol and prolonged standing or even an inherited condition. Most thread veins can be treated using lasers and IPLs, and sclerotherapy, however we are unable to treat varicose veins.

Our nurses recommend that Thread Veins are best treated early, so at the first signs of the appearance of unsightly veins come and see our Nurse Counsellor for a Free Consultation. Patients often say it's the number of thread veins that worry them as they start to cluster, so it best to treat them as soon as they appear. Once assessed and treated we can repeat the treatment and keep your Thread Veins at bay.

Prior to thread vein removal treatment

Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation where all your questions are answered and you are assessed for your suitability to proceed.

Following thread vein removal treatment

Lasers and IPL can be used to remove thread veins on the face, body and legs. Laser treatments will remove fine and large thread veins quickly and effectively. Two or three sessions is usually all that is needed to leave your skin feeling smooth and blemish-free. This is a non invasive treatment for veins 1-3 mm in size. We generally recommend on average 5 treatments.

Sclerotherapy is also effective in thread vein removal - this is a relatively simple non surgical treatment which only takes 30-40 minutes. A very fine needle is used to inject a solution into the vein, which causes it to perish and, over a course of treatments, disappear completely. A treatment session takes approximately 30-40 minutes. The number of treatment sessions depends on the method used and how many areas need to be treated but we generally recommend on average 4 treatments.

Make-up can be applied directly following a face treatment and you can return straight to your normal routine after each treatment session.

How long will thread vein removal treatments last?

How long thread vein removal treatment lasts varies from person to person. In most cases the same veins will not reoccur, but new veins can appear in other areas of your body which might require treatment. For lasers and IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatments, we normally recommend on average 5 sessions to leave your skin feeling smooth and blemish-free. For Sclerotherapy, the number of treatment sessions depends on how many areas need to be treated, we normally recommend on average 4 treatments.
