40 per cent of Brits considering Cosmetic Surgery

3 August 2015

A recent study of 2,000 Brits found that four in ten are considering undergoing Cosmetic Surgery. The three main motivations: to boost confidence, up their chances of finding a partner, and to look like a favourite celebrity.

10 per cent of participants admitted that they hoped having Cosmetic Surgery would give them more success in the romance department, while others believed that looking like their favourite celebrity would improve their self-confidence.

Legal firm Irwin Mitchell commissioned the study, with specialist cosmetic surgery lawyer Mandy Luckman commenting: “Almost everyone has things they would like to change about their appearance, but only some that would seriously consider going through with cosmetic surgery.

“Most can understand people wanting to have surgery to help improve something they dislike about their appearance or to boost confidence.”

Of those surveyed, it was revealed that 33 per cent are seriously considering undergoing Cosmetic Surgery now or in the near future with Breast Enlargement, Rhinoplasty, Cosmetic Dentistry, Breast Uplift and Arm Lift cited as the five most common procedures.

Luckman was careful to point out however that the decision to have Cosmetic Surgery is not one to be made lightly. She urged prospective patients to do some thorough research into both the procedure and the Cosmetic Surgeon who would be performing the surgery to ensure that they are making the right decision.

The top five celebrity lookalikes requested by women include Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Keegan, Kate Middleton and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

For men, the top five celebrities they would most like to resemble were David Beckham, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp.
