TV personality and dance coach Arlene Philips has revealed that she's had cosmetic surgery and Botox. The star told Celebs on Sunday about the several cosmetic procedures she's undergone in an interview. She said: "I've had Botox on my forehead, between my eyes, and I've had a few injections to suck out fat around my chin and in my face."The celebrity has recently been at the centre of a storm of controversy regarding older women on television due to her replacement on popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing. The 66-year old dance expert was replaced on the judging panel with 30-year old Alesha Dixon who won the competitive TV show during a previous series. Many people complained that the BBC show was being ageist in its decision. The broadcaster denied the allegations saying that the replacement was part of routine reviews and regenerations. Ms Philips has since been appointed as leader of the Dance Champions Group - a government campaign which is being led by Health Secretary Andy Burnham. The star's dismissal from Strictly Come Dancing hit a raw nerve with many women around the country as it reflects the pressures of unemployment caused by the economic downturn. Many men and women are turning to cosmetic surgery and non surgical procedures to help them secure work in a tough job market. The pressure to find gainful employment has in fact become a key driver for older women considering cosmetic surgery, along with the desire to look as young as they feel.
