Blogger sparks beauty revolution with #PowerOfMakeup
29 June 2015
When she spotted a worrying trend for ‘make-up shaming’ growing in popularity, beauty blogger NiKkie Tutorials decided to speak up for make-up lovers everywhere.
Nikkie wanted to remind us that make-up can be fun. And so she created a video – which has now had more than 17 million views on YouTube – where she ‘did up’ just have of her face, showing the transformative power of a few well applied beauty products.
Captioning the video NiKkie wrote, “I feel like lately makeup shaming has become a thing. It's as if putting make-up on to have fun is a shame. Therefore, I thought it would be cool to show you the power of make-up. A transformation. Because makeup... is FUN! Hope you enjoy & thanks for watching!”
She also signed off the tutorial with the message, “By no means do I want to say that if you have insecurities, you should just slap make-up on, feel a little better, and just never be content with your own self. I just want people to know that make-up is fun! And there are no rules.”
The video caused a huge buzz and women from around the world have taken to Instagram to post a selfie with half their face in make-up using the hashtag, #PowerOfMakeUp.
It’s a refreshing, ‘don’t take it all so seriously’ beauty trend that we love at The Harley Medical Group. After all, with most women applying make-up every day, why shouldn’t they have a little fun with it?!
How do you feel about the #PowerOfMakeUp, will you be posting a selfie? Tell us on Twitter today.
