Bollywood star backs use of cosmetic surgery to boost self-confidence
22 March 2012Indian actress Priyanka Chopra has given her backing to people who opt to have cosmetic surgery. The 29-year-old, who is known for being a former Miss World, as well as for her roles in films including Don and Fashion, recently told reporters that she believed cosmetic surgery was fine to help boost a person's self confidence. She added that it is also important for people to love and accept who they are.She said: "I feel somewhere you lose your confidence because of certain things. But if you can make yourself look better to feel better, then I don't think there is anything wrong with it." Chopra has herself denied reports that she has undergone cosmetic surgery procedures. Research has found that people who decide to have cosmetic surgery operations such as liposuction, breast enlargement and tummy tucks, enjoy a considerable boost to their self-esteem. Recent research carried out by The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation found that following surgery patients experienced a significant decrease in 'negative body image'.
