Brazilian women proud to shout about their boob jobs
02 February 2012Women in Brazil are more than happy to have breast implants fitted, and also to enthuse about them to their friends, according to a US fashion news website. A report by fashionista.com said there is considerable demand in the country for small breast implants, which have become known as 'Brazilian Bs'. And what is more, women who have opted for the cosmetic surgery procedure are happy to talk about their new breasts. Fashion journalist Jorge Wakabara told the publication that in Brazil, "breast surgery is something to be proud of". Other Brazilian women told the fashion site it was not unusual for people to post photos on social networking sites following a boob job, in order to show off their new assets. One reason for the rise in the number of procedures being carried out in the South American country is likely to be due to the relatively low cost of undergoing surgery there. In other parts of the world the general attitude towards cosmetic surgery is somewhat less relaxed, but figures show that in America and the UK, demand is still growing. Data released recently by The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons showed a 5.8 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of procedures carried out in 2011.
