Breast reduction gives Ulrika Jonsson something to smile about
27 April 2009Ulrika Jonsson today recounts the story of her breast reduction surgery and the way it's changed her relationship with her breasts and her body. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the star intimately recounted the journey that saw her electing to undergo breast reduction surgery at the age of 41. The television star first spoke of her plans to have a breast reduction and uplift during a stint in the Big Brother house earlier this year. She revealed to her fellow housemates that she was discontented with the size and shape of her chest and was considering cosmetic surgery to correct the problem. Today, Ulrika explained that for the past 20 years she has been unhappy with her breasts and that the birth of her four children left her more dissatisfied than ever. She said: "So negative did I feel that I didn't think of them as 'breasts' at all, but rather as two deteriorating mounds on my chest. "For me, they were awkward, cumbersome, unsightly, heavy, foreboding, unsexy, repulsive. Frankly, they revolted me." Her decision to undergo the procedure was largely influenced by constant discomfort and a loss in elasticity that became progressively more noticeable with age. Ulrika said that the weight of her breasts - which increased to a G when breastfeeding - caused backache as well as painful indentations from bra straps. She also asserted her belief that the choice was the right one for her. She added: "Is it so wrong to want to look and feel better about yourself? Now that I've been through it, I'm convinced it was the right thing for me to do."
