British woman breaks cosmetic surgery world record

49 year old former Bunny Girl Sarah Burge has topped a plastic surgery world record, having spent 539,500 on more than 100 surgical and cosmetic treatments.

The British mother of three has beaten previous record holder, American Cindy Jackson, in her attempt to turn herself into a real-life Barbie doll - and even dressed up as the popular children's doll for her wedding three years ago.

Mrs Burge's zeal for cosmetic surgery started when she had to have facial reconstruction surgery after a brutal attack. Since then, she has undergone over 100 treatments and is continually looking towards more. She told the Daily Mail: 'It's addictive - you find yourself wondering what you can have done next? It's not that I'm unhappy with the way I look - I've always been confident about my appearance."

The half-million pound list of treatments undergone by the housewife and beautician from Cambridgeshire includes rhinoplasty, breast reduction, tummy tucks and liposuction.

She has become so well known in surgeries and within the industry that she frequently no longer needs to pay for her operations - surgeons have begun to offer them to her for free in return for the free publicity they receive every time she leaves her home.

According to the newspaper, Mrs Burge's husband, Tony, is supportive of her quest to promote cosmetic surgery as a sensible route for women who are unhappy with how they look. She has even raised her daughters to acknowledge that there is nothing wrong with undergoing surgical procedures to change their bodies.

She said: "I think it's empowering for my daughters to know that if they aren't happy with any aspect of their appearance, they can change it.

"The oldest two are so proud of me. And why shouldn't they be?"
