You’ve never seen them look anything less than flawless. You may even have wondered just how they do it? Now your favourite celebrity women over the age of 40 share their top beauty hacks for looking good, whatever your age.

  • Dame Helen Mirren

Moisturiser and sleep are high priorities for Dame Helen Mirren, who said: “I have always used moisturiser at night and in the morning – it makes me feel better and to me that’s what I want from it.” She added that she also makes sure she always gets eight hours of sleep every night.

  • Halle Berry

You’d never guess Halle Berry was 49 years old, and that’s on account of her excellent skincare routine, which involves cleansing, toning and moisturising. Her secret tip? A spritz of rosewater mist before applying her makeup.

  • Susan Sarandon

It’s all about balance for Susan Sarandon, whose advice is simple: “Don’t smoke cigarettes. Tobacco is the worst. The sun is also terrible and so is too much alcohol, it ruins your skin.” Her top three suggestions for ageing well include getting plenty of exercise, eating well and being happy.

  • Elle Macpherson

A big advocator of looking after your skin, Elle Macpherson swears by daily application of SPF. She also makes sure she wears a hat to keep her face covered when she’s at the beach.

  • Cindy Crawford

Don’t neglect your neck, advises Cindy Crawford who regularly does neck exercises to keep her jawline toned. “They’re simple to do – just lay flat on your back with your chin pointed up, and lift your whole head about an inch off the ground. Without putting your head back down on the floor, bring your chin to your chest. I do three sets of 10 repetitions, but you can build up to that!” she said.
