Cosmetic Surgeon explains why Blepharoplasty is so effective

19 February 2015

Demand for Cosmetic Surgery increases every year, with Blepharoplasty (Eye Bag Removal) taking pole position in the UK’s list of most requested procedures for men and second place in the list for women.

With that in mind, one Cosmetic Surgeon explains why this procedure is so effective. He says: “With demand for the most subtle procedures such as eyelid surgery and facelifts holding steady, it’s clear that the public of 2014 were after a refreshed or youthful appearance rather than more conspicuous alterations.”

Eye bags are caused by a loss of elasticity in the skin – this happens naturally as part of the ageing process. As the skin around the eyes is more delicate than the rest of the body, this if often the first place where ageing shows.

The Cosmetic Surgeon explains that typical candidates for Blepharoplasty are 35 and over. It is often undertaken in conjunction with other Anti-Ageing Cosmetic Surgery and Non Surgical treatments, such as Dermal Fillers, Laser treatments and Forehead Lifts.

The effects of Blepharoplasty on the upper eye lid last up to seven years, while repeat surgery is not generally required for the lower lid.
