Cosmetic surgeons experience hectic New Year
30 December 2011Cosmetic surgery clinics are currently experiencing one of their busiest times of the year, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The paper said that some surgeons will have performed twice as many procedures such as weight-loss surgery and facelifts in the last few days, as patients take advantage of the Christmas and New Year holidays which allow them extra time to recuperate. Instead of having to take time off work to allow any bruising or swelling to go down, people undergoing cosmetic surgery treatments are able to relax at home without having to worry about going out. According to Houston-based plastic surgeon Dr Franklin Rose, the most popular procedures in December are those which have the longest recovery times, such as face lifts. He told the newspaper that the last month has been his busiest ever, with around 20 operations per week. Dr Rose said this was twice the normal volume and led to him working into the night and missing out on family functions and social appointments. He said: "With surgeons in December, you can have some unhappy wives."
