Cosmetic surgery serves Cher well
12 May 2009Cher, one of the most popular female singers of the last half century, showed off her elegant cosmetic surgery enhanced body this weekend at a performance in Las Vegas. The vocalist wore her iconic black body-suit revealing her excellent 62 year old figure. The skimpy, sequined costume first caused a stir at a concert in 1992 when Cher was 45, but her most recent outing in the body suit shows how successfully she's been able to turn back time and maintain her youthful silhouette. In the past, Cher has referred to herself as a "plastic surgery poster girl". She first underwent cosmetic procedures in the 1960s, including a rhinoplasty to enhance her nose and a breast augmentation following the birth of her first child. In more recent years, the singer has undergone several facelifts to keep her face looking young and has also received blepharoplasty - a popular anti-ageing procedure among men and women - to remove her under-eye bags. What's more, Cher has been rumoured to favour liposuction to eliminate the fatty deposit that can build up on older bodies, and may also have had a tummy tuck. And, like many Hollywood celebrities, she is known to favour Botox injections to project a wrinkle-free visage. Speaking about her cosmetic surgery in the past, Cher has said: "Everyone says I am terrified of getting old, but the truth is that in my job becoming old and becoming extinct are one and the same thing. And becoming obsolete and useless is completely unattractive to me."
