Diane von Furstenberg talks essential beauty rules that every woman needs to know

World-renowned fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg has never looked anything short of confident and comfortable in her body. Now, she has revealed her top beauty secrets that she believes every woman should know before they reach the age of 30.

Having recently declared that a woman reaches her peak between the ages of 28 and 35, Diane revealed that 30 is “the best age”. Her beauty secrets are designed to help other women be (and feel) their best.

She explained: “Everything you do should enhance you. It’s just so nice to be you. Practice truth. Be you every day. It makes it so much better.”

So what are her beauty secrets?

  • Think in terms of decades when making resolutions

Rather than making a New Year’s resolution, Diane says it’s better to think in terms of the next decade. She advises women to choose something really big that will make a positive change in their lives, such as quitting smoking or cutting sugar from your diet. Carrying on with bad habits past the age of 30 makes it harder to quit. Make your thirties the decade about change to feel like a new you.

  • When it comes to makeup, stay true to yourself

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a huge fan of makeup or you prefer the natural look; Diane’s advice is to stay true to yourself and don’t do anything that doesn’t feel like you. Of course, if you want to experiment with a killer red lipstick, go for it!

  • Wear SPF daily

It’s vital that all women, regardless of age, wear sunscreen daily to keep skin protected from the harmful UV rays. Where the sun is concerned, prevention is always better than cure so be sure to avoid direct sunlight where possible.

  • Eat well to keep your body healthy

The phrase “you are what you eat” has never rung truer – so to ensure your body is as healthy as possible, remember to eat a well-balanced diet rich in fruit and vegetables. If you look good, you’ll feel good. Diane says: “You only have one health, and your body is what you eat and what you do to it.”

  • Enrol in a yoga class

Yoga is great for stretching and improving posture; it also helps to keep your body lean and healthy. “It’s good for your body, it’s good for stretching, it’s good for your mind, and it’s a wonderful thing to do”, Diane adds.
