3 June 2015
Dark circles, otherwise known as panda eyes, are nothing to be concerned about. While they don’t affect your health, they can cause you to look exhausted and older – which nobody wants.
There are many causes of dark circles: ageing, DNA, lack of sleep, dry skin, unhealthy diet, and stress. Both men and women are affected by them, regardless of age.
So how do you prevent them and what can be done to banish them?
To prevent dark circles, it’s a good idea to:
- Eat food packed with vitamins and nutrients
- Avoid smoking
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Have regular eye checks
- Get sufficient sleep (at least eight hours)
For those already suffering from dark circles, there are a number of ways to get rid of them. Some may find it useful to apply cucumber slices, cold tea bags or lemon juice to help reduce their appearance. Topical bleaching agents may also be prescribed if your dark circles are a result of sun damage.
Skin resurfacing treatments such as Skin Peels and Laser solutions can help to reduce the appearance of dark circles as well as improve skin tone and quality. They may be used in conjunction with Dermal Fillers which add volume to thinning under eye skin.
