Have you got Tech Neck? Hereâs how to treat it
28 January 2016
These days we’re more likely to be looking down at our smartphones than at other people. In this fast-moving technological world, the need to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week has become so great that it has led to us using our smartphones and tablets pretty much all day.
While it’s a boon for the tech industry, it’s not so great for our health. Constantly looking down at a screen has contributed to the phenomenon known as Tech Neck.
Tilting our heads downwards causes the delicate skin on our necks to wrinkle and age faster. Worried you have Tech Neck? Here’s what you can do to fix it.
- Keep your head straight and hold your phone up
Rather than looking down at your phone or tablet screen, try keeping your face straight and looking ahead, then bring your phone up to eye level. It may take some practice but you’ll soon get used to it.
- Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers are a great quick fix for early signs of ageing, smoothing lines and wrinkles to leave a more youthful look. Containing hyaluronic acid, they’re great for ‘filling’ in deep horizontal neck lines.
- Fat-Melting Treatments
For those battling a combination of turkey neck and double chin, Kybella injections are an ideal way to reduce excess fat in those areas, leaving you with a more defined jawline and a more slender neck.
If your neck is ageing prematurely, undergoing a series of Botox treatments will relax the muscles, smoothing fine lines and preventing wrinkles from forming.
- Intense Pulsed Light
You can easily improve the texture and tone of your skin around your neck with a course of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment. Experts recommend undergoing IPL on your face and neck for optimum results.
