Hollyoaks' longest-serving female cast member, Carley Stenson recently announced she would be leaving the popular soap after 10 years. Whatever the future may hold for the actress, Carley recently revealed that she now feels more comfortable about her appearance than ever, thanks to a nose job. Carley had cosmetic surgery to fix her damaged nose 18 months ago, and told new! Magazine: "I've never liked my nose since I banged it when I was little. "I would walk around school with my hand over my face. But I am very happy now. I just wish I'd had it done sooner." Even as one of the most popular stars in the Channel 4 soap, 27-year-old Carly revealed that she never felt confident about her appearance before having surgery, saying: "I hated my nose. I saw it every day. I dreaded profile shots. I was so paranoid that if people were talking to me from the side I would have to turn to face them." Carley first appeared in the hit show when she was just 17, and her TV career has also been going strong elsewhere, with appearances in shows such as Celebrity Scissorhands and the BBC series Identity. Although she said she does not currently have more plans for cosmetic surgery in the future, Carley said she "would never say never", and that recovery from her rhinoplasty "was relatively quick and pain-free." Carley is not the only Hollyoaks star to have improved her appearance with plastic surgery - her former cast-mate Gemma Atkinson also boosted her confidence with a boob job in 2006.
