Students can now enrol on a plastic surgery degree course, thanks to the latest addition to the curriculum at Anglia Ruskin University. The practice-based degree, which will be taught at the Universitys Chelmsford campus just 25 minutes by car from the set of reality television show The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) is open to postgraduate students from September this year. Overseas students with the correct undergraduate qualifications will be able to enrol in the MSc in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Practice from next year (2013).James Frame, Professor of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at Anglia Ruskin, who will be the MScs course leader, said: Aesthetic plastic surgery is a rapidly enlarging, super-speciality that requires recognition in its own right. This degree will benefit surgeons and therefore should improve the quality of surgery that patients receive, Professor Frame added. More than 43,000 cosmetic surgery procedures were performed in the UK in 2011, up 5.8 per cent on the previous year. It is hoped that increased practice-based qualifications will encourage those patients considering risking their health for cheaper surgery abroad to think twice. Professor Frame added: The University is very forward thinking and the qualification has a pass or fail exam. One mistake could be a fail and people wont qualify. It is a world first as no one else has done this type of qualification before. See original story here:
